In the "Berenstain Bears" books, the bears are said to live in "Bear Country". Because of this, I thought that they lived on another planet, which was kinda like Earth but each country had a different species running the show (like there was a Cat Country, a Lizard Country, etc) and that somewhere on their planet there was a Human Country which was just like our world but a single country.
I had this weird thing where my mum would give me a back rub to stop me from being worried. After a few tries, we found out that talking about my worries was more effective, but when she did the back rub thing she claimed that she was "sending my worries to space". That gave me the belief that emotions were physical things that were just intangible and invisible (like water vapor) and I was worried that if she sent my worries to space, it would cause aliens to become randomly afraid because they'd "possess" them or something.

My father used to watch a lot of those shows about people getting abducted by aliens. It got to the point where I believed that if I slept facing the window I would be abducted. If I wanted to sleep on my right side I would put my pillow at the other side of the bed so I could sleep comfortably without being abducted.

In fourth grade, there was a kid in our class who insisted he was Martian. This went on all year. One day, playing this game of forcing people into the "Kootie Box" (a painted rectangle on an outside schoolwall), we all pushed the kid into the Kootie Box and he bumped his head. He promptly grew an egg sized and shaped lump in the middle of his forehead (he was not otherwise injured). For years afterward, my friends and I were convinced he was telling the truth.
