When I was a little girl I used to try to catch the tooth fairy. I believed that if I put an open hand under my pillow (and around my tooth) I would feel her, wake up, and close my hand, thus catching the fairy. Alas, I never did.
I used to put out stuff for the fairies" when I was about 9. Once I invited one over in a letter and was really dissapointed when she didn't turn up!!!!!!
I half-believed in the tooth fairy until I was 12 or 13 and caught my dad making the switch in the middle of the night. I felt really sad about it afterwards, like it wasn't my choice to stop believing, like Santa or the Easter Bunny, but that it was taken from me.
I used to think that little fairies lived in the electrical outlits and I would sit around the outlits in my house for hours at a time talking to them. I even left them some food crumbs to eat sometimes. Then I believed that when I slept, the fairies would come out and tap me with their wands and that was what gave me my dreams.
I used to think that the toothfairy was a crocodile.
top belief!
When I was 2 or 3, I would get fever blisters ALL the time. My brother, about 9 or 10 at that time, told me that there was a "scab fairy" and if I picked the scabs off of my fever blisters and put them under my pillow, the scab fairy would bring my a penny. I totally believed him, and that night, I put my scab under my pillow. I was so disappointed in the morning when I woke up and there was no penny. I thought that maybe the scab had come out from under my pillow, so the scab fairy didn't see it when she looked. I told my brother about it, he started laughing, and I then realized that there was no scab fairy.
when i was little and rode the bus to elementary school, i used to pretend that tinkerbell was flying right alongside the bus and went to school w/me every day. she was a pretty fast flyer!!
top belief!
I used to believe that my aunt had fairies living at teh bottom of her garden. we used to see their silhouettes flying about and once I even saw one riding a horse. Many years later I found out the it was all created by a projector in the shed.
When my little sister was very young, she never wanted to clean her room. One day, one of my friends was staying for the night, and we were feeling rather altruistic. So, while my sister was downstairs, we cleaned up everything in her room and left a note that said, "We are little dancing elves who clean your room for you! Our names are Feeby, Fobby, Foe, and Little Foofyfoo."
She believed in those damned elves for YEARS. It got even harder to make her clean, because she was convinced that if she just waited long enough, the elves would do it.
when i was little, i was playing scrabble and was losing terribly, so made up the word "yumyoga". my friend and i made up this whole make believe tale of a place which we visited at night. to this day, i still remember the names of several makebelieve characters of which i told people, including my brother. my brother decided to humour me and made up his own world of "fish". one night we promised we'd take each other to our own magical lands. i spent hours hanging curtains and other material to form a sort of tent over the edge of my bed. i filled it with lights and bits of tinsel. telling my brother that he had to keep his eyes shut on the "journey" to yumyoga,(across the landing) i led him into the room... where he laughed at me for having gone to so much effort over something make-believe.
when i was little i would wake up really early to go into my garden and read the tiny little notes on gold tissue paper the fairies had left in the flutey part of the daffodils my mum used to tell me to hurry or the pixies would steal them i was really scared until one day, my mum had to tell me it was my next door neighbor all along who was writing them i was really dissapointed XXxxXX
When I was little I was told that the tooth fairy recycled teeth, which is why they had to be clean and cavitiy free for her to leave you any money for them. This belief was reaffirmed when I lost one of my upper front teeth and less than a week later my baby cousin cut the exact tooth that I had lost. I've passed that belief on to my kids.
When i was about 4 or 5 i saw the movie peter pan and i thought the fairy dust was just the coolest thing ever. so i begged my mom to go to the disney store and buy some. so when she did, i went out on the deck and sprinkled some on my head and jumped off. it never occured to her that i thought i could fly with it!!!!
I always thought if I turned really fast or watched carefully out of the corner of my eye I would see some of the fairy-tale creatures still around: like a unicorn. Actually, I think I still believe that deep down somewhere :)
My nan used to tell me there were fairies living in the garden and they gave her three wishes...so she wished for love, luck and happiness. I still carry that thought with me everyday
One time my dad said he say a light in my room. i thought it was the tooth fairy. I had many nightmares.
my dad used to tell me that the feather things on dandelion clocks were fairies, so whenever i saw one id run after it, then make a wish when i caught it. I wished that my toys would come alive. bu when i asked my Dad why it hadn't come true, he said it onl happens in your dreams. I cried my eyes out.
When me and my best friend were little, we fully believed that we were unicorns. We would pretend everything, flying etc. We even had are own cloud picked out in the sky that we could go on. In the girls bathroom, there was a door that we could never open. We believed that it was the entry into the mystical world of unicorns and that we could show are other friends(they were not unicorns) this wonderful place. Well one day we are all walking to the bathroom and we see the door cracked and something moving. At this point we are all excited, but low and behold there stood the janitor getting a broom. Very disappointing moment in my life!
My family visited Ireland when I was about 7, and I insisted on bringing a shoebox with airholes with me everywhere in case I was able to catch a leprechaun.
When I was little I used to be scared about putting lost teeth under my pillow. The idea of the tooth fairy coming into my room and going under my pillow really frightened me.
