The maple tree in my yard was my "boyfriend". One day we had a tearful breakup because I told it/him, "I can't see you anymore, I'm in love with the apple tree!" Well, those trees were better men than any around here.

When I was little I had an imaginary friend. I was convinced that he was real... and that he had no arms and no legs. I would try to convince other people that he was real. When I told my babysitter I was sent to a psychiatrist.

I am 13 years old. My two imaginary friends are Ruprect and Priscilla. Ruprect is a player and Priscilla always yells at him when he looks at a lady's toosh. They used to be married and then got a divorce, and they are very bitter towards eachother. Ruprect is currently vacationing in Antarctica and Priscilla lives under the sink in my dad's bathroom.

When I was a baby, my brother had an imaginary friend called Brenda Pineapple. Although sometimes, he would tell people that his name was Brenda Pineapple. Wehn I was about 4, he had changed to Johnny Boy, and since I didn't have any interest in having an imaginary friend, he decided to create one for me, and he would make up elaborate things that they would do. When we went places, he would say "Come on Johnny Boy!" and then he would nudge me and I would half-heartedly say "Come on Johnny Girl." The weirdest thing, is his daughter has a couple of imaginary friends, Milo is the main one and he is really bad. If something happens "Milo did it!"

My imaginary friend was Pogo. I don't know if I got that from the comic strip or not, but he did all the dangerous stuff. Mom tells better stories about Pogo than I can even recall. All I remember is that he was pretty darned sophisticated.

My 6-year-old sister is convinced that there's a frog in our sink overflow. (This isn't strictly a Used To Believe.) It's a girl frog called Charlie. I think my sis believes this because of the gurgling noise the sink makes when you pour water down the overflow. It doesn't even really sound like croaking...

I was the only child, and when I was about 10 I believed I had a brother who lived in a parallel world. I wrote letters to him, and little stories about how we'd eventually run into each other (even though I had no idea how that could happen).

I used to have an imaginary friend named "Nanoo-nanoo" who was made out of electrictiy and of course, lived in the electrical outlets. For my 8th birthday he was the only person I invited. I was crushed he didn't show up.

My four year old daughter has four imaginary friends: Salads, a broadway performer; Corona, her imaginary daughter; John Allen Scott, Scott for short who is her life(husband); and Neckalace, Scott's boyfriend. She makes up crazy songs, like all kids do and when we ask where she heard it she says,"Oh, Scott has that CD."

When I was small I always used to imagine myself into Rugrats stories as the cool resourceful teenage long lost cousin who could understand baby talk, and I'd always show Angelica (whom i disliked) up, and have fun adventures with da others.

When I was about 6 or 7 I was visiting with my Grandparents and was bored, so I imagined that the cartoon strip character Hagar the Horrible was living with his friends in the breezeblocks in the backgarden.

When it was time for me to go I invited them all to come home with me. I remember that they always marched in one long line and were about three inches tall. I used to build houses for them out of cards and leave my bedroom door open a crack so that they could come and go.

When i was young (2-5) i had two friends called tootchi and pornogs. Tootchie had a highpitched voice and pornogs had a deep voice (that i used to do, yep, in effect i had conversations with myself!)tootchie and pornogs were elf like things one all in green and one all in red with pointy hats. they lived in a hole in the bannisters and i used to stand on the stairs and look into the mirror at the bottom and talk to them as i could see their reflections. i also used to walk round always holding thier hands, and cried if anyone sat in their place at dinner (as they would be squashing them). they went when my sister was born

I was in fourth grade when i decided that I ought to have an imaginary friend. My first one was a pilgrim, and her name was Sandra. I imagined her walking under a schoolbus after about a week, though, because she didn't like to read.
Then came Kim. I hated her after three days, because she was too perfect. She was a shape changing fairy with blonde hair. I then imagined Kim spontaniously combusting, which was very fun.
Then came Elanor, my soul mate. She liked to read, was far from perfect, and she only stopped by when I wanted her. We lived happily ever after, to this very day.
"We're in love, aren't we, El?"
"Yes, dear, we are."
