My father was watching Camelot one evening (yes...the musical with Robert Goulet and Richard Harris). There is one scene when King Arthur is furious with his wife because she is being so unkind and unwelcoming to Sir Lancelot. The character of King Arthur has a song that he sings about it. At the beginning of the song, he is quite loud and slams a door or two. When I asked my dad why, he told me that it was because King Arthur drank some cola at dinner and the caffeine was keeping him up. He was unhappy and upset because he couldn't sleep.

I am ashamed to admit how many years I believed *that* one....

a little boy once told me that the scariest movie ever was "harry potter and the chocolate factory" i assume that would be a pretty scary movie

When I was about 4 or 5 my mom and I were watching Wizard of Oz. When it was over I asked her why the people forgot to color some parts of the movie. I believed someone took markers out of a box and colored the TV.

When I was 7, I was into stuff like today's Candyman and It. I was brave and never got scared until I saw Scary Movie (2000). That's when I wet my bed. I never knew humor 'till then.

At 8 my mom thought I would enjoy the movie the Excorcist?! For the next two years I believed the devil was going to possess me, so I used to put my dolls and stuffed animals in a cocoon around me to protect me. What was my mom thinking? (I still have never watched that movie to this day)

I used to think when I was around 6 or 7 that every bit of a movie was individually drawn out, and then when every single bit of the film was done and there were thousand of pictures on pieces of paper, someone would flip them through and other people would record it. After it was recorded, the voices were added.
Whenever someone came round and we watched a movie on TV, I'd drive them crazy being so specially in awe by it and pausing it every 2 minutes exclaiming with utter amazement, "ISN'T IT SO COOL? SOMEONE DREW THAT!" occasionally I return my attention to the TV and press the pause button over and over so that each frame went one after the after slowly. "And that! And that! And that!"
Well, it SEEMS kinda logical ;) I have no idea how I thought that up or how I found out it wasn't true. Imagine what I'd have been like if I hadn't figured out how movies were really made by the time Shrek came out! I'd have been pausing it on DVD every few seconds to pore over every little detail...

there was this movie that i used to watch all the time when i was little about these dinosaurs that had to save their grandfather from dying. well my mom told me that if we watched the movie too many times, the grandpa dinosaur would end up dying

For years, I thought the Land of Oz (from The Wizard of Oz) was Australia - which is often abbreviated as, of course, Oz. It was only a year or two ago I realised the naming was just a coincidence, and that the Land of Oz in the story was meant to be a mythical, non-geographical place. At least I understand now why none of the characters had Aussie accents...

This is not mine, but my boyfriend's. We were watching TV when an advert came on for the Charlotte's Web movie. He watched with surprise, and said to me at the end "Ohhh, so Charlotte is a spider!" I asked him who else he thought would have a web. Anyway, it turns out he thought that Charlotte was the little girl, who had spun a web of lies and deceit. For years he's been unable to understand why that would make such a great childrens' book. Bless...

2 Films:

When I was barely 5 my parents took me to see Terry Gilliam's gothic-fantasy film TIME BANDITS (1981). It's about a little Enlgish boy and several dwarfs traveling through time. It gave me the worst nightmares for years! I'm surprised I didn't need therapy. Even to this day, I'm still a little scared of the actor David Warner!

In 1989 I saw BACK TO THE FUTURE 2 at age 13. I still love it, but I knew that those 'hoverboards' were fictional. However, director Robert Zemeckis gave a press interview that year where he jokingly said: "'Hoverboards' have been around for years, but parent groups won't let them be manufactured!" (paraphrasing). To this day there are otherwise intelligent, college-educated, adults who LITERALLY beleive that 'hoverboards' exist! My older sister is one of them!

When I was little and I watched movies I used to think the actors were acting out their parts over and over again. I couldn't understand how they got it exactly the same every time, and I didn't understand why they'd want to put on the same show just for me, but I still thought they did.

When I was little, I remember watching Pinnochio with my mom. For some reason, I thought the Blue Fairy's name was "Sail Fish" because I heard her say the word "selfish" (which I thought was "sail fish" ). I seem to remember my mom being confused when I persistantly tried to prove that the Blue Fairy was named Sail Fish.

I was absolutely horrified by the pink elephants in Dumbo when i was little. Why? Because of the part where they marched around the border of the screen! That obviously meant they KNEW they were in a movie, and since they had supernatural powers, what was going to stop them from coming out?!
Oh and they had no eyes. Things without eyes that still can see has always been scary.

As a little girl (about 8 or 9) one of my best friends was on a bit of a puppet jag and every single time we went over to her house we would hide in her attic and watch the movie Labyrinth over and over again. We both had a MAJOR TWEENER CRUSH on David Bowie and in the end we ended up fighting 'for him' (which mostly involved me kicking her in the shins until she fell over in the yard and then running back in and locking the door.)

He was already probably 50. Old enough to be... probably my granddad. Ew.
But I was convinced he really had hair like that... all fluffy and blonde XD

When I went to the pictures as a child, there would be trailers before the film for things that were coming soon. At the end of some of them, the announcer would say "Coming soon, only in theatres," or "To a theatre near you".

I used to think "Wow, that film isn't even out yet and already they're making a play out of it? It must be REALLY good!"

I must have been twelve or so when I read that the first cinemas were called "Electric Theatres" and it suddenly clicked that they must be using old-fashioned terminology for cinemas. Until then I actually thought that all these kids' films were getting made into stage shows.

when i was 5 i found the movie 'It" in one of these bins in my basement. i watched the movie with 2 friends. i was completly horrifyed about the part where he come out of that old picture. now every time i look of in the distance my mind plays a trick. it visions a brown clown on a unicyle pointing at me and racing at an extremly fast speed. same thing in every one of my nightmares

why did i have to watch that movie again?
