I used to believe that the music I heard on the radio was always live, so I didn't understand how bands could travel from one radio station to another in a matter of seconds.
When I was about five, I used to think that music on radio came from bands who were actually in the studio for every song. I wondered how the Village People could get from one studio to the next so quickly.
I used to believe that when you heard a song on the radio, that artist had to come in and perform it. It never occured to me that people might be playing tapes like we had at home. When I heard the same musician on more than one station, it astounded me how fast they could make it from one station to the next!
I thought that the music on the radio was being played live at the radio station and bands were constantly stopping by to play their music.
When I was young, I had seen a "Flintstones" episode that involved a musical group playing at a radio station for the broadcast. I thought all music on the radio was played live by musicians at the station.
I used to think that the bands were playing live at the radio station. They'd set up, play one song then go home.
I used to believe that whenever I heard a song on the radio, the band or singer was actuallly in the studio performing live.
