I thought that, when an actor kissed another actor on tv, they had to get that actor's spouse to stand in for the other actor, because it was wrong to kiss anyone other than your own spouse. I think this was inspired by an episode of Mork & Mindy somehow.
I used to believe that if you were watching TV and jumped into the screen you would land inside the TV and be part of what was going on in there!
When I was little, I used to believe that if I left the T.V. off, then a dinosaur would come and get me. I guess that's the reason I'm such a couch potato.
When I was around 8 or 9, I saw Rolf Harris (UK TV personality) do a skit dressed up as Jake the Peg, who had an extra leg. The leg of course was fake, but to me it looked real. From then on I believed that Rolf actually did have three legs, and when he presented other shows like 'Animal Hospital' he just tucked his extra leg down his trousers or something.
When I was a really little kid, and whenever I got my older sister mad, she would always point the remote control at me and say "I'm turning you off!" I would run around the room crying for hours because i thought i was turned off and no one could see me like when you turned the t.v. off. A couple days after screaming, someone else would use the remote to turn on the t.v. I wondered if when they turned the t.v. on, if they could see me again. It has been ten years, and I still fear turning off the t.v with the remote.
At one stage, between knowing that the people on tv were actors and truely understanding what acting meant, I believed that actors that got married on screen were really married and had to get a divorce after filming was over. I also believed that when an actor was killed on screen, he was really killed and that his family would get paid lots of money for this. I assumed that the actor would be terminally ill and going to die anyway, so at least his family would benefit.
When a TV station was having difficulty broadcasting and a voice came on and said to "Please stand by," I thought it was my fault the TV wasn't working and got up and stood by the TV until the TV was working again.
When I was little I wanted to be an actress because I thought they shrink you and put you inside of a TV.
When I was younger I thought the disc holder for our TV would explode if you put too many discs in.
I thought that if I tried really hard, I could change what was happening on the TV. I couldn't, so I'd get frustrated.
When i was a child, I used to believe that actors played the movies in all the lenguages availables. It was really impressive!
I believed Walter Cronkite knew everything, that's why they let him do the news.
When I younger whenever people on tv would talk in a foreign language on the news or something, I didnt realize that the person talking in english was actually translating what the other person was saying. I'd always get so upset with the tv thinking that someone was trying to interupt whoever was talking.
When I watched the trailer of the Peanuts Movie that showed the characters ice skating outside, I thought one of the girls in the trailer was saying "Watch the girls" until we got the DVD from the library and put the subtitles on and I found out she was saying "Watch the curls!"
When I was little, I believed that when you watched a movie, the actors were really acting it out somewhere and when you rewinded it without pushing stop first, they had to do the whole thing backwards. But if you pushed stop before you rewound, they wouldn't have to do it backwards.
when i was little, when ever i watched a video over and over, it was tireing out the actors/cartoons. so i decided to give them a break every now and then, this was my theory on why the video was hot after use.
I thought that if you broke your tv, all the actors and characters and everything would come running out through your tv, and i wanted to break it so bad beacuse i wanted to meet big bird!
When VCR's first came out, I was 8 years old. I was SO excited to be able to fast forward through the commericals and could not figure out why the remote wasn't working!
When I was 5 years old, my friend's mom told us that if we watched to much tv, our eyes would turn square, and they would never go back to normal shape! I was so scared, and we didn't watch much tv after that...
i used to believe that i couldn't see the ladies head from the Powerpuff Girls because i had a small tv in my room. then my mom got a big big BIG tv for the living room and i saw it was just the show.
