For the longest time, I always thought that Catwoman was Batman's girlfriend, as they both wore black and a matching mask with black pointed ears.
I used to believe that everytime i put my grease video in the VCR, it sent a message to someone who had to round up the whole cast and they performed the film live! I always wondered how on earth they never got their lines wrong!!
When I was really little (3 or 4) I was a big fan of YTV, where sometimes they would take in kids pictures and show them to everyone. I really wanted to draw a picture for them, so every day I colored my heart out, and every day I put the pictures in the gap between the TV and the counter. I thought that this was their post office box (as surely they couldn't go to our post office, being inside the tv and all). One day I found a stack of my pictures in my grampapa's cupboard. I was heartbroken. I thought YTV didn't like my pictures. My grampapa explained that YTV thought they were too good to stay in TV land, so they were sent back for real people to see. I believed him until I was 8.
~YTV is a childrens TV station based in Toronto.
I used to believe that if I broke the T.V. during a show, I could get into the show
that if I sat to close to the telly that I would get square eyes.........for years I tried & tried to get me them square eyes but it never worked :-(
as a child, i assumed that everyone was on tv at all times and changing the channel just allowed you access to different families. well, one night i was watching a lifetime movie with my mom and in the end the main character died. but after the movie was over, the actress came on to do a little public service announcement about battered wives and i started screaming and crying terrified of the "ghost" on the screen!!
when my cousin was little (like 5) she was in a dance class. one day we were watching people dance on the t.v she wanted to go in the tv and dance too. she ran to her room and put here dance clothes on she ran to the living room and stared crying when her mom told her she could not go in the tv and dance with the people
When my cousins were younger (they are now in their 30s), they believed that their parents removed all the dead cowboys and indians from the back of the television when they went to bed.
When I was a kid i used to believe that loads of tiny little people lived inside my tv....and every time I turned on the tv they would hold pictures up to the screen. They would change the pictures really quickly, faster than the naked eye could see, to make stories and tv programs for me to watch.
You know how those "Closed captioning was brought to you by..." followed by silence. Up until a few years ago, I thought they were telling us who sponsored the show via the closed captioning and since mine wasn't on, I wasn't able to find out.
It became an obsession to try and turn on the closed captioning so I could at least ONCE see who sponsored such shows (I was somewhat jealous that there was information to which I wasn't privy). Of course, I never remembered until I heard those words announced, after which I'd fumble with remote only to be too late.
I used to believe that if I threw a tennis ball at my Tv screen it would break it and I could crawl inside and go into my favourite tv show and be part of it, playing with the characters and everything.
I used to spend my week-ends at my Grand-Ma's and spend a good amount of time in front of the TV. In the evening we would inevitably watch the weather forecast. I was convinced that the man on TV got to decide how the weather would be the next day. I was extremely puzzled by the rain. Why would he ever want rain ? Then I understood: my Grand-Ma had a garden with tons of vegetables and fruits, so that must be why, people like her needed the rain, and the man on TV was just making them happy too...
I used to think that the laughter on TV sitcoms were really people at home laughing. Sometimes when I was by myself, I used to laugh either really loud or when I wasn't supposed to at my TV.
I used to believe that before color television was invented, that the world was actually black and white. I thought that we invented color and changed the world from black and white to color.
When I was around 4, I used to believe that when the TV was off, it was the people in it that were watching us in the house. So when I was walking in front of the switched off TV set, I always had my best behavior, going as far as doing some little chores, like straightening out the edges of the rug in the living room.
I used to think that Spongebob took place on LAND.
When I was around four, I thought every black man on television was Bill Cosby.
I used to think that Batman was Blackman. He wore a black superhero outfit, so it made sense to me.
I beleived that television shows would pause when I stopped watching and resume at the same point when I came back to watch the tube. Because of short attention spans, I didn't realize the truth. One day I was very irritated to discover that a different show was on after a trip to town, and none of my friends at school saw the end of the episode that I had missed!
The TV said "we are having technical difficulties, please stand by." This meant the people watching TV should stand next to their TV.
