I used to believe that Rolf Harris and Timmy Mallet were one and the same... I have absolutely no idea why...
My parents never subscribed to cable, and it took me a while to figure out what it was. First I thought my mother was just mean becuase she whouldn't let me watch cable like my grandmother did. Once I figured out that we didn't get the channels, I thought it was something special that you had to live in the city to get (since I lived in the country and all my friends in town had cable). I had to be six or seven before I figured out you had to pay to get more than a couple of channels.
I used to believe (because my dad told me) that at night he would take all of the little people out of the TV, I used to sneak down to have a luck, but he told me that they would only be safe to come out when I was in bed.
I used to believe that newsanchors always told the truth, kind of a legal requirement for being on TV. Then one day in the early 70s, when I was about 10, I saw an interview with Mohammed Ali. An hour or so later, Walter Chronkite paraphrased Ali completely to the opposite of what I had actually heard. I now believe one should never trust journalists.
I always thought you could break through the tv screen and walk into whatever was on the screen at the time.
As a young child, I knew things on TV were in black and white and therefore "not real". I could never understand what my dad found so facinating about "the news"- it was just a person sitting there talking!
Many friends had color TV's, but it was still fake, they were just special. It was color films at school and daycare that confused me most. It was on TV so it MUST be fake, but it was at school, so it must be real.... what a conundrum.
I used to believe that the "Guest Cast" listings in the T.V. guide that followed each program were the names of the people in the commercials, since they came in between the T.V. listings, just as commercials came in between the T.V. shows.
When I was little I used to think that if you spoke into the speaker on your TV set, the people on the telly could hear you.
oneday, somebody showed me how people make cartoons when i was little. pages of drawing and when u fan the pages, it creates a motion picture/cartoon. so i thereon thought that thats how TV works, you have bundles of papers with picture and it moves then quickly to make motion picture. and thats why TV looking like a big box (then the TV we had was huge) made sense. but news and live program didnt make sense to me.
I thought my mom was very special when she could predict commercial breaks on TV, only later did I realise that she would spot the tiny white square would appear in the top right corner of the screen when a break was due
When I was little, I used to think that you could break the glass on the T.V., climb in, and then end up wherever the T.V. was showing. I also thought that when commercials came out for toys, you could break the glass and get them out of the T.V.
when i was about 4 i used to think that when the tv was on their was actors standing behind of it acting and when it was turned off i used to think that the actors was takin a break. so i used to check behind my tv
i used to be terrified of the show goosebumps. ( a show that acted out horror stories) so i thought that the freaky characters lived in the t.v and one time i wanted to smash the t.v open so the charcters would come out and i could get my dad to beat them up.
1.I used to beleive that there were actuall people in the tv,and they didnt realize that they had shrunk and everyone could see what they were doing.
2.I also thought that if you sat to close to the tv it would suck you in and you wouldnt see your mom or dad ever again.
Once when i was little, i'm only 16 now, my dad used to watch the football a lot, but becAUSE of the size of our TV screen we couldn't see the little score box in the corner. When my dad complained about this i lied on the floor and tried to see around the edges of the screen thinking u could see more under there.
I thought that inside my TV there were all the characters of my favorite shows. Once my father caught me poking the TV with a stick trying to get Topogigo (one of my favorites) out.
When I was little I thougth all commericals were live. So everytime a commerical was made they were being filmed as I watched it and everytime a commerical came on directly after the other I thought they would act it out again.
last time when the television was on i thought the people were performing in it -.-
As a child our TV stayed on one channel. We had a TV
anntena and got only a few channels. For some reason I thought the neighbors were watching us on their TV. We had a fire and ran to the neighbors. I was
stunned to see they were watching the evening news
instead of us. I remmeber my mom telling my brothers to behave because the neighbors were watching us.
Maby thats why I thought this... wierd I know lol
when i was little i use to think that the tv showas and comercials were all done live. i could never figure out how they got everything perfect, untill i got older and learned that the shows were recorded.
