I used to believe that when my parents told me there was nothing on tv, there was 'nothing' on tv. If i did turn it on, it would just show a blank screen, not even a test card or white noise... just nothing.
When we first had TV in 1953 and there was someone playing the pianon I used to believe for years the reflection was another pair of hands playing along with him.
When I was about 5 or 6 I used to think that poeple who appeared on TV used to live in the TV ariel.
I thought that the news anchors on tv were actors, even though the news was real. It made sense, since people on tv and in the movies had real names and screen names.
I used to think that the people you see on TV weren't real and existed within the TV. I was really confused when my dad took me to a football game and I saw the players, then even more confused to see them on the telly too later that night when they showed the highlights.
When I was about 7 or 8 years old my mom told me that if i break the TV screen it would suck me into a different world and she told me she knew someone who got sucked it. I Guess she told me to scare me out of breaking it.
i used to think that if you opened up the back of the telly you`d go into a whole new world
I used to believe that when we left a room the TV set started to speak about other things
My aunty is a tv news presenter and when my cousin was about two he thought mum was behind the tv and he used to go and sit behind the tv for hours!
When I was little, I used to believe that when i turned off the television at home... then everyones tv around the world would turn off too so they couldnt watch there programmes
One time I told my cousin that people could come out of tv's, and the only way to send them back was if I used my wand on them (it was a stick). So for years, she was scared of watching tv unless I was there.
When I was younger I thought MTV was an x-rated station because I thought M stood for Mature.
I used to believe the people of television were talking to me alone !
I use to believe that when I turned off the tv programming would be halted. I thought that changing channels on the tv would make the vcr record different programs and also believed that the 'reflection' on the tv was a magical tape that recorded what I do before I did it instead of a camera.
I used to believe that whenever you watched TV, the actors would come into your screen, and act it out for you. I somehow pictured millions of clones of the same actor going to different people's TV screens. I also believed that when they died in the show, they died in real life, and gave their money they earned to friends and family.
I used to believe that everything we watched on t.v is on a giant roll of tape at the t.v station and that someday it will run out.
When I was little I believed that when I would turn off the television, the show I had been watching would stop and wait for me to come back. I distinctly remember one time watching a cartoon (I think it was Spiderman) and my mother and I had to leave to run an errand. I stood in front of the TV and instructed the show to wait for me so I could finish watching it when I returned. Imagine my disappointment.
I used to think that having a bad signal from a tv or radio station meant that other people had already sucked up all the signal before it got to our house, and there wasn't enough to go around.
i used to believe that in sops/dramas that their name on set was their real name and when my mum told me that it wasnt their real names i was so shocked. i thought she was lying.
my mum used to think that on tv shows where things happened she would say " how did they know it was going to happen to film it in time?'
