When I was small, I used to think there were people who lived in the tv and performed things. Later, when I understood that the pictures were transmitted from a studio, I thought the actors had to be there to perform things everytime the thing they were in was shown. I thought the people in the adverts must be quite heroic - they had to get pretty tired jumping to every time the adverts came on, after all. Oddly, I think I did understand that videos were just recordings, though.

I used to think that when you turned off the TV, it paused like a video. I remember having a temper tantrum when I was younger. I was watchin a cartoon and my mum said we had to go shopping and that the show would still be on later. A few hours later and I discovered the news was on, I was so angry cuz someone had unpaused the TV.

I used to believe that the TV shows which you could hear the studio audience laughing were the people at home laughing. So, I would get right to the speaker of the TV and scream really loud thinking everyone watching could hear me.

When I was little I saw Doctor Who on tv and the Doctor at the time wore clothing with lots of question marks all over it. At a local clothing store they sold 'Guess' brand clothing, their logo was a big question mark- so, naturally I thought that's where he must go to shop. I kept looking for him there, but sadly he never turned up.

I used to believe that my Dad personally knew everyone on TV. We would always watch Indy racing on Saturday afternoons and I always thought that my Dad and Mario Andretti were close personal friends.

I used to believe that when the bad guy characters on a TV show had a gunfight that they actually were shot and then just went to the hospital to get better (you would see them week after week on different shows getting shot and then appearing on another show.)

As a very young child I got the idea that someone named Edward was a big honcho in the world of television. In fact, I thought he had most all of TV programming named for him. That was because I heard the announcement on TV frequently that I thought was saying "This is the CBS Television Edward". Of course, I eventually learned that they were saying "network", not "Edward".

I used to believe that at the end of a movie the credits would roll up and exit the television through the antennas...they would become really small and invisible and float in the air...

My parents used to love "Lonesome Dove," so naturally I always watched it too. At one point there is a prostitute playing the piano, and Robert Duvall yells from upstairs "Tell that whore to stop playing and get up here" or something along those lines. So naturally my siblings and I asked what a whore was. My parents decided between them that a prostitute was a woman who played the piano.

The very next Sunday my mom told the pianist at our church the story, just in case we were to tell her what a good whore she was.

I used to believe that if I turned the TV off, it would pause whatever show was on until I turned it back on.

One time I was watching TV and I got mad at something, so I threw a hair clip at the TV. I heard it land but couldn't find it, so I was convinced that it had fallen into the TV, where it would ignite and set the house on fire. I was sure that my mom and I would come home from our bike ride that day to find our house in ruins.

Later it was unearthed behind the entertainment center- who knew?

When I was about seven, my brother told me that our new color tv could not get black and white programs (like old movies) and I believed him.

Two things about TV

1. While watching TV I believed that I could go up to the screen unscrew it and climb inside it and meet everyone I saw

2. I believed that the whole world was black and white until color TV was invented.

I grew up in western Canada we got the Spokane affiliates of all the American networks. For most of my childhood I believed that while movies were made in Hollywood, all TV programs were made in Spokane, Washington.

My girlfriend believed that the television canned laughter came from other people watching in their homes. Whenever the laughter started she would run up to the tv and laugh into the speakers as loud as she could. Hoping everyone would hear her

i used to belive there was a t.v shot you got when you were 7 years old(thanks to my older sister) and she told me that all you see when you get the shot is a tv show. (the shot is really called tb not tv, and not everybody gets them) I was talking about it all the time, it has 4 different needles and it goes in the tip of your finger. and then i found out that you don't see tv and i didn't need the shot.

When I was little I used to believe that when you switch off the TV the film you were watching stops exactly there, and you can watch the rest of the film by switching on the TV again (even on the next day or so!).
