there's a newscaster called paula zahn...when i was little, i thought she was actually a man named paul azahn. i was quite confused when i finally matched the name to the face and found myself looking at a woman.
I used to believe that if my favourite television programme was on and i wanted to watch it later and switched off the TV then the programma would still be on later. Its funny to think that i used to think i could control the TV!
When I was a kid (I'm not sure how old) I used to go on family holidays to Cornwall (UK) and stay in a cottage. One time I was watching Formula 1 on TV, and my parents wanted us to go out, so when I complained (I wanted to watch the rest of the race) they said it will still be there when we came back. For ages I thought that the TV was like a video and I could watch the end of the race when I got back.
I used to believe that you could not press buttons like "menu" or "enter" on the TV, or else it would make the TV explode or something bad. Then my sister told me she found out what the buttons did - made a little box come up. Boy was I relieved. :)
Up until I was about 6 years old, I used to believe that each person had different t.v programmes on their television.
One day my mum past the phone on to me so I could speak to my friend, as she was talking to my friends mother. We (my friend and I) spoke while we were both watching T.V. During our conversation, We started talking about what we where watching. I then told her to press 4 on her remote control and describe what she saw on the screen. I was then amazed at what she desribed, as they were the same images that I could see on T.V!
I sincerely believed that a TV program would stop at the exact moment that you turned the TV off. I would turn the TV back on, and be totally confused as to why the storyline, or even worse, the entire program, had changed.
We had a TV antenna on the roof that would turn by rotating a dial in the house. My Aunt Linda told me there was a tiny man in there turning the antenna, and I believed her for a long time.
When I was little, I turned on the TV to find there was no programme on and there was a still image of a little girl playing naughts and crosses on a black board. I didn't know this meant there was nothing on and I thought this little girl was a mean little cow, so I tried to indimidate her by staring her down to make her put the programmes back on! Needless to say I couldn't stare her down...
I used to believe that real people on TV shows were just cartoons that were colored in really good.
When I watched some TV shows, sometimes there was a big sign that said "applause". For a while, I thoght it said "applesauce".
I used to think that is you paused the vidios and went out of the room, they complained about being blured! One time i came back in my room and i SWEAR one of the charactors was in a different position!
I was about 12 when satellite tv first came on and I thought that all the presenters on satellite tv channels had to be taken up to a tv studio orbiting the earth to broadcast. Actually, even though I know this is not true I still find myself thinking it is!
The first time I saw TV I thought that when I turned it on a few hours later I would see the program start at the point at which I had turned the TV off.
on the the show Mister Rogers Neighborhood Mister Rogers was not only talking to me he could also hear me talking back to him and since my best friend was watching the show at her house if i yelled loud enough she would be able to hear me through her tv
When I was watching a film on the TV I supported "good guys", of course. When good and bad started fighting I strained all my muscles, clenched my fists believing that it would help "good guys" to win.
I used to think that if an episode was shown on the tv that the actors were actually acting it out again. Then I saw this episode of Father Ted and I knew the actor who plays Father Ted (his name escapes me) was dead. I asked my sister how they could get another actor that looked, and sounded, exactly like the previous one.
When I was younger, I asked my grandfather where did Harry Caray go during Cubs games.
You see, when Harry did Cubs games, he would split broadcasting duties for TV and Radio, both on WGN stations. He'd leave TV after the 3rd, work 4th-6th on radio, and come back to TV for the 7th, and finish the game out.
My grandfather told me he went across the street to a bar and had some beers with his friends. I used to think this was the coolest job in the world, go to a game, hang out with friends in the middle, then come back for the exciting part in the end.
I was very disappointed when I came up with the real reason. I think I still am.
When I looked at the TV Guide I thought To Be Announced was actually a show that was on for three or four hours at a time. I also thought it was a religioius show for some reason.
I used to belive that if u tried to look closely into the side of the TV, you would be able to see the rest of the picture
I used to believe that I wouldn't be able to be famous because my ex-boyfriends would go on television and talk about our relationship.
