I used to think the wombles song "Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we" referred to their social positioning, as in they weren't posh. Actually I didn't put 2 and 2 together until I moved to London and visited Wimbledon Common.

I was utterly convinced the Wombles really existed and whenever we went to Wimbledon Common (which was quite alot) I would try and force my entire family to search for them. I found a number of things but sadly I never found a real Womble.

I always used watch Gentle Ben at my Grandma's house. Being small I got confused and thought my Grandma actually *knew* Gentle Ben.

I used to beleive that whenever Mary, Mungo and Midge got in the lift at the end of each episode, the cable would snap and they would plummet to their deaths. Apparently, I used to cry and shout at the telly every time it came on.

I used to believe that Worzel Gummidge really did remove his head, and that he was some kind of undead monster. It really used to scare me.
