In 'Take a Chance on Me' by Abba there's a line that says 'You wanted to leave me there, afraid of a love affair'. When I was small I thought it was 'Afraid I would love a bear'. Well I was only 6!

There's a line in 'White Room' by Eric Clapton which says 'Platform ticket'. I always thought it was 'Kurt Von D**khead'. Thought it was an anti Nazi statement or something like that.

When I was young, I truly believed that in the song 'I can see clearly now' by Jimmy Cliff was in fact 'I can see Kealy now Lorraine has gone'. From such a young age I learnt that men were not nice to women. I was both dissapointed and relieved when I learnt the truth.

Someone I knew in school thought the lines to the Rolling Stones song "Shattered" were, "Don't you know the prime rate's going up, up, up, up, UP?" instead of the "crime rate." He thought it was about being a stockbroker.

One of my friends STILL thinks, to this day, that the lyrics to the Eiffel 65 song "Blue" are, instead of "Im blue da ba dee da ba di etc..." are "I'm Blue if I was green I would die etc..." She still doesn't believe that she's wrong

When I was 11, I misheard one line in "Sleeping sun" by Nightwish, and I thought she was singing "rodent caresses me" (I didn't know it was "ardent"). I thought Tarya was bestialist!

Not from my childhood, but worht a mention. Last year when I had heard Nightwish' song "Wish I had an angel", I remember I misunderstood the line "Beauty always comes with bad thoughts" and thought it was "beauty always comes with buttocks" =) Really!

Bob Marley's "To the rescue" was thought to be "to the red-skin" by my friend. She thought he was going to meet some Indian Chief!
