i used to think the hyena's line in the lion king song "Be Prepared" was 'make love to the king' (as oppose to long live to king) My mum tried to subtly suggest that this wasn't entirely correct, but i was utterly convinced and went on singing it at the top of my voice regardless - completely unaware of the implications!!

I used to think that the chorus from the song "Stop In the Name of Love" was "Stop! in the neighborhood... before I break your heart" I was singing it at the top of my lungs one day and didn't understand why my brothers were laughing hysterically at me.. they explained of course and then laughed at me some more. Ah well.

When I was young my parents were very keen on 70's and 80's rock and "Dire Straits" were one of their favourites. They would listen to "Money for Nothing" which has a lyric "get your money for nothing, and your chicks for free".
Now, I misheard that line and on a family day out in the car to said song, I came out with; "Daddy, if I grow up to be a rock star, will I get free chips?"

I thought the first line of the national Anthem (Australian) was:
"Australian's all eat ostriches,
For we are young and free"

When I was young I used to think the line 'She wrote upon it.' in Elvis's 'Return To Sender' was actually 'She rode a pony.' I still sing the wrong line to this day (although only with happy irony) because it sounds so much like it!!

My dad is a huge AC/DC fan, so I grew up listening to them...a lot. Now, Dirty Deeds is one his all time favorite songs, and I used to think that they said, "Dirty jeans and a thunder jeep," instead of, "Dirty deeds and they're done dirt cheap." And I can still listen to that song and hear my version of it. Try it sometime. It's funny.

Only recently when I've been listening to ABBA again with my children have I realised that what I thought for years in 'Gimme, gimme, gimme' was "take me to the doctors at the break of the day" is in fact "take me through the darkness at the break of the day".

when Rush, Rush by Paula Abdul came out, my aunt had just had her baby. So in the chorus, when Paula says, "Rush, rush" My aunt thinks she is saying, "push, push". To this day, she refuses to believe otherwise.

That Madonna song 'Get Erotic' kinda came funny to my ears. To me, it sounded like 'Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body'

there's a song "so happy together" that i used to hear on the radio. one line goes, "the only one for me is you, and you is me, so happy together". until i was at least 11 i thought the line was, "the only one for me is sue, and sue is me, so smack me with feathers." and i still sing this whenever it's on.
