In the song "American Pie" I'm sure you know it, there is a part in the song where they sing "they were dancing in the gym" and my mother used to think they were saying "chin-to-chin" instead of "in the gym." And this was recently!!!

I thought Queen's song 'Bohemium Rhapsody' went: I see a little cigarette on a man.

I used to think the line, 'and pretend that he is Parson Brown' in 'Winter wonderland' went, and pretend that he is parsnips now.

When I was younger, my parents used to listen to the german group Kraftwerk. The song "Autobahn" went "Fahren, fahren, fahren an der Autobahn." I was told not to use swearwords, and was really shocked when they listened to this song! I thougt they were singing "Faen, faen, faen on the Autobahn."

-Faen is a norwegian word you can translate to something like "damn", "fuck it", or "hell"...

A friend of mine told me the children in "Another Brick in the Wall" by Pink Floyd were making fun and singing "all in all you're just a-nother prick in the hole"... I'm still not convinced this is wrong!

When I was young(er), the song "I was
made to love her" by Stevie Wonder
came out. I'm 47 years old now, and
still can't figure out the FIRST LINE!"I was born in ______, something,
something ... and, I THOUGHT the second
line was, "had a carpet sweeper, we were
always hand in hand." Now, I at least
know that "carpet sweeper" is "childhood
sweetheart" after a friend heard me
attempting to sing with the radio and
told me what a idiot I was - "You were
hand in hand with a carpet sweeper?' she roared. Well, "hey, hey, hey." I
at least knew THAT part. We still don't know the first line, though - it's just one of life's mysteries. Arden Las Vegas

My parents were big fans of the show "Cheers." Whenever I heard the theme song, I thought that "You want go where everyone knows your name" was actually "You want to go where everyone knows Yulnay" and that Yulnay was some really cool person.

Until recently, i used to beliveve that the chorus in "Freewill" by Rush went - "You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice. If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice. You can choose from Phantom Fears and Kindness that can kill. I will choose a bad ass career, I will choose freewill"
I know know that " Bad Ass Career" should be " Path that's clear"

I'm from Germany, and, listening to
Enya's latin "cursum perficio", I
always heard (and if I want to still
hear) "Katz und Maus" for "cur-su-m".
Translated, the song then goes:

cat and mouse - perficio
cat and mouse - perficio

I used to thinkg this was so incredibly
stupid.

In the song "I'm every woman" I wasn't sure what the words were, so I made up my own version called "Climb every mountain" and it makes sense with the next lyric "it's all in me"

I thought the words to "When I come around" by Green Day was "When I caught a red hound"--- not horrible, it fits perfectly, just doesn't make much sense with the rest of the lyrics

Blinded by the Light. Sigh.
It actually goes: "Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night".
I thought it said: "Blinded by the light, I woke up with a goose, another mother in the night!"
I am officially an idiot. I only found out a few weeks ago about this. I am 13.
P.S. Is anyone sick of my misheard lyrics yet? Jeez!

I used to imagine that in the song "Just a Gigilo" by Van Halen when he said "I ain't got no body" it was just a little head dancing around, kinda like a Mr. Potato Head toy. I thought he really didn't have a body.

I used to mthink that "I'll never let you go" by Third Eye Blind, was "Another Latchiko, Another Latchiko." My friend thought it was "I'd rather wear JNCO." we still laugh at that song

in the song hakuna matata where timon and pumba sing "it's a problem free
philosophy", I thought they said "it' a
problem Tree Phil and Sophie". I walked
around singing this over and over again
when I was five.

There was a song in the 90's. I don't remember the band but in the chorus, it said "I'm standing by you". I was pretty young then and I loved to watch ice-skating. I used to think the singer said, "Oksana Baiul". I always wondered why he was singing about a skater.
