Instead of "Do they owe us a living? Course they do! Course the do!" in the Crass song.. my friend believed it was.. "Do they owe a living? Cosovo! Cosovo!"

When I was a young boy listening to the Beatles hit song, Ticket To Ride, I always thought they were singing, "She's got a chicken to ride". I used to sing that at the top of my lungs in my dad's car as he laughed, but he never told me the real words. I always wondered, what a huge chicken that must be, and how much fun that ride must have been!

For many years I really belived the first line of the Meatloaf song Bat out of Hell was..... Like a battery Hen I'll be gone when the morning comes......

I used to think that Elton John's "Sad Songs Say So Much" was the theme for the Gremlin's movie, only because of the lyric "they reach into your room".

My brother always thought that the line, "My lips are sealed" by the Go-Go's actually said, "Islands of Seals." I still tease him about that.

I was listening to System of a Down's "sugar" on my CD player one day, and my 4 year old cousin started singing along. He completely messed up the lyrics. The first line of the song is "The kombucha muchroom people" and he sang "The paloocha mocha people". I laughed so hard i nearly cried.

My sister, while on a plane was singing bohemian rhapsody by Queen, she got to the bit where the sing 'Gallileo' loudly, except in her childhood innocence she thought it was Gonorrhoea, much tutting, strange looks and an embarresed mother ensued

I thought in Angie Martinez's "If I can Go !", her background singer at the end is saying, "If I can go... to home depot"... instead of If I can go, con tigo (with you). And I thought why these people want to fly to go to home depot.

My boyfriend admitted to me that at school he was curious as to what a 'rancer-doo' was. As in the song 'Daisy, daisy, give me your...rancer-doo'!!! He'll never live that one down!

Given that I really loved music as a child, I inevitably developed some rather unusual beliefs about certain songs. I really thought that “Wig Wam Bam” by The Sweet was really about wig wams and that it was about one that was by a river since the song mentions something about standing by water. My mother raised us on Queen and there is a song called “Killer Queen.” I had the video of The Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe so it was obvious…the song had to be about the evil Snow Queen! :P How did I back this up? Well, I misheard one of the lines as “she keeps a mole and a shovel in her pretty cabinet.” I figured that the mole was still in stone cos Aslan had yet to free it! The true line is “she keeps a Moet et Shandon in her pretty cabinet.” Champagne IS a more sensible item I guess. ;) The famous “Bohemian Rhapsody” gave rise to a funny one. I misheard part of it as “open your eyes look up to the sky and heave” and I concluded that it must be partially to do with being sick and thought that the boy in the song was not only on trial for shooting someone but for puking on a policeman! The way their heads spun around eachother on the video also seemed to suggest that they felt dizzy and sick. Needless to say that I never wanted to barf on a bobby! :P

when I was little my folks loved Bruce Spreengsteen, my mom would play his music when we cleaned the house and we'd both dance around and sing and clean. We were washing the windows one day, when she turned the stereo down and told me to sing the verse again. She then busted out laughing and had me sing for all friends and family for weeks. I was much older when I discovered The Boss' hit was called "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" and not "Dead Devil in a Flea's Ass"

Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays. I thought the line DSillicone chips inside her head was: silly old chips and cider head!

My friend started singing "two 10 o'clock girls go round the outside, round the outside, round the outside.." to eminem's Without Me instead of "two trailer-park girls.."
I never quite figured out what a "10 o'clock girl" was

When my younger daughter was small she loved to sing in the car. One day she demanded we sing "The Rabbit In The Sea" It took us at least 15 minutes to figure out that she meant "My Bonny (bunny) Lies Over The Ocean.

i thought the tiffany song, "I think we're alone now" was sooo risque... I heard the words "holding on to one night stands" instead of "holding on to one another's hands"!

When I was little I used to think that the song by The Mamas and the Papa's titled "Mama Cass" was "Mama Cat". I still do not know why.

I also used to think (about 2 years ago when I was 10) that the modern pop song where there was a line that said "chicks in Maui" was 'ticks in my wee", and I already think you know what I mean!

For years I used to sing ABBA's Waterloo as "Waterloo, I was receiving you on the floor, da-da da-da da-da..."

Somehow I suspect that it's meant to be SLIGHTLY more innocent than that!!!

i used to dj for my high school in the mornings before homeroom. in the middle of playing pearl jam's "rearviewmirror" our vp of academics (very attractive woman) comes running up proclaiming that the lyrics surely said "time to masturbate," when it was actually "time to emancipate" -- not a good misheard lyric at an all-boy highschool
