I thought "I wandered lonely as a cloud" was "I want a pony for my shroud"-well, the school choir was made up of very horsy girls.

i used to think the song jeremy by pearl jam said "jeremy's toe jam, heeeyyy" instead of "jeremy's spoken, in class today"

It wasn't until recently that I discovered that contrary to my family's beliefs, the words to that Michael Jackson song were *not* "Annie Annie wonky, Annie wonky, Annie wonky, Annie" but, "Annie are you ok...etc".

To the BeeGee's Night Fever - for years I thought the lyrics were "In ninety-ninety-nine, we'll know how to do it..." instead of "Night Fever, Night Feee-verr..."
I just assumed they were singing about the millenium party

top belief!

"We built this city" by Starship. All younger members in our family were upset to find out that the lyrics actually went 'we built this city on rock and roll' and not 'we built this city on sausage rolls' as we had thought.

I was convinced in the song "you are not alone" that michael jackson was actually telling lisa-marie presley that 'your burgers are the best' I have recently been corrected and told that it is 'your burdens I will bear' hmmm think he was better off with the burgers

I use to think in the Bee Gees song they sang "Living in a world of food" instead of fools.

My most favorite song by Elton John, "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", was one of many songs I sang wrongly.
In one verse, I sang "And stricken by a harlot's social scene, just a pawn I paid five dollar and eighty quid", when it was "I'm strangled by your haunted social scene, just a pawn out-played by a dominating queen."
...Luckily I now have a book of lyrics to help correct me.

My parents listened to Kenny Rodgers when I was younger. Up until very recently both me and my sister (who are 26 and 21 respectively). Thought that the lines in Lucille said 'four hundred children' instead of 'four hungry children'. We just thought it was a case of country music style exagggeration.

I was a fully functioning adult when I heard this one.. there's a nifty Van Morrison song which says: "And we walked the pagan streams". But I was hearing "And we walked the pig in strings", which puts a whole other slant on Celtic mysticism.

People still erroneously believe that the Beatles have a song about a 'paperback writer', when clearly it's about a paper bag writer as I have known since the age of four.

It was roughly the same time that I started to eat Indian food and discovered Abba. I thought that Abba sang about Chicken Tikka when in fact it was Chiquitia.
