I remember argueing with my Dad over the lyrics to I Don't Like Mondays by The Boomtown Rats when I was 5. I thought the chorus was "I don't like money".

When I was just starting high school a friend of mine's dad convinced me that the 'Darts' song "Duke of Earl" actually went: Tink, tink, tink tinkerbell, tink,tink..(etc.) It still makes me smile to think of it now.

I used to sing the first stanza of "Oh, Beautiful" like so:
"Oh, Beautiful for spaceship eyes..."

I have no idea how aliens got in there?!

In the song Flashdance, there's a line, 'Take your passion...' My sister and I used to think the line was 'Take your pants off.' At the ages of 10 and 12, we thought it was the dirtiest thing we'd ever heard.

I used to think that in the popular 80s song by Til Tuesday they were saying "Hush, hush, keep it down down, this is scary". Until I started working in radio and learned the song was called "Voices Carry" and it all made sense!

I used to think Stevie Ray Vaughan said "At nights I go shopping" instead of "And that's a cold shot, baby" in the song "Cold Shot". I didn't figure it out until pretty recently, and I'm 27.

My brother used to believe that the part of 'Margaritaville' where Jimmy Buffett sings 'Some people claim that there's a woman to blame' was actually 'some people claim that there's a warm nun to blame'.

i used to think the line from the song went "going to the jack-o-lantern" instead of "going to the chapel and we're" gonna get married from the Dixie Cups early 60's song, Chapel of Love.

When I was about 5 or 6 years old, I used to think Terrence Trent D'arby's lyrics were "..lemonade accross my heart," instead of "..sign your name across my heart".

I used to think the song Row Your Boat was either about my mother or written for her. Her name is Merlie and I always thought the chorus was Merlie, Merlie, Merlie, Merlie Life is but a Dream

I used to think that the song Manic Monday was really "A Man named Monday." The whole song didn't make much sense, as far as i know, so I think it fits quite nicely.

My sister used to think that in the Madonna song 'Material Girl' when she sang the line "material" over and over near the end Madonna was actually singing "A ma - tiddly - um"

when i was eleven, i thought salt'n'peppa's "push it" was actually called "pussy" (maybe pronouced closer to "pusseh")-- so the chorus went "ah, pusseh, pusseh real good!"

not that the real version is that much cleaner

my best friend's younger brother was convinced that Huey Lewis was singing "I Want A New Truck", instead of "I Want A New Drug." - Maybe Ford should buy the rights and use it.

While playing in the sandbox one afternoon, I convinced my cousin Kelly that "Addicted to Love" by Robert Palmer was *not* "Addicted to Love", but "A Tic-Tic-Tic Love." I also thought that "Bring Me a Higher Love" was actually "Bring Me a Pile of Gold", which made much more sense to me at the time.

I used to think (until more recently that I care to admit to) that the line "It's true I hire my body out for pay" in the Fall Guy theme was "It's true I hide my body at the bay"
