When I was little I used to sneak out of bed to watch the Headbangers Ball with my older brothers. (That was back when MTV played music) And I remember seeing the music video for the song "Seasons in the Abyss" from Slayer. The video didn't scare me at all. It was what I heard. I thought he said "Yeah I'm dead, I'm lyin' in bed, with incisions in my head" I could just imagine Tom Araya lying down, dead bleeding from his scalp. Not until a few weeks ago did I know the lyrics were "Razors edge, outlines the dead, incisions in my head"... I was close.
The image still freaks me out.
when i was 5 i thought the lyrics to i want it my way from nsync was "aint nothing but a hard egg aint nothing but middle age and now i know i want it my way!!!LOL then my sister told me it was wrong!!!
From Abba's song "Under Attack", I heard the lyric "under attack, I'm being taken, about to crack, defences breaking" as:
"under attack, I'm being taken, a butt crack, defences breaking"
From John Lennon's "Just like starting over", I heard "Don't let another day go by, my love" as "Don't let another Dago buy my love"
From the Beatles song "Lucy in the Sky with diamonds", I used to think "The girl with kaleidoscope eyes" came out sounding like:
"The girl with colitis goes by"
When i first heard the song from marry pooppins that goes "We're clearly soldiers in petticoats
Dauntless crusaders for women's votes" i thought the were saying "woman of oats" so i thoght they were a bunch of ladies advertising oat meal.
In the song "Time To Dance" by Panic! At The Disco, there's a part that goes
"But they believe it from the tears
and the teeth
Right down to the blood at her feet.
Boys will be boys, hiding in estrogen and wearing aubergine dreams."
What I heard was:
"And they believe it from the tears
and the teeths
Right down to the bond energy
Boys will be boys, hiding their ass in aubergine jeans."

My sister thought at the lyrics to the Panic! At the Disco song was "Kamacazi caught you causing a comotion on the gurney again" when they really where "Camera caught you causing a comotion again".... for those of you who didnt now a kamacazi is a drink!
When I listened to Axel F I always thought there was a bit saying "Joseph's gob." It freaked me out, so I moved on to Tony Christie CD. It went "Is this the way to Amarillo" and because Tony Christie wasn't a good map reader, I turned it off so he didn't get lost.
in that song where it goes,
" goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend , you are beautiful tooo meee"
i thought it said,
"goodbye my *brother* goobye my friend etc etc"
sooooo my brothers my lover,
ps that songs sung by a male
i used to think the song line, 'i can see clearly now the rain has gone' actually said 'i can see deidrie now lorraine has gone' lucky blighter.
My latest misheard lyric was thinking Gwen Stefanis "Cause I aint no holla back girl" said "Aint No Harlem fat Girl"
And they laughed and laughed
You know that old song 'How Bizarre' by OMC? Here's the actual lyrics to a part of the song:
"Cruising down the freeway
In the hot, hot sun"
When I was little I was convinced they said this instead, and always sang it this way:
"Cruising down the freeway
In my hot croissant"
Midnight Oil / Beds are burning. I didn't listen to this song for a long time, and I forgot artist, title, everything. I trie to look it up from the lyrisc I thoutght I remembered - well it took quite a while, because instead of "How do we sleep while our beds are burning" I typed "How do we dance while our pants are burning" At least, i got the burnig part right...
me and my best friend are on the track team and sometimes when we're running long loops or 'fun runs' around town i would start an obnoxious verse of Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi.
One day when everyone actually sang along, and we were singing specifically the part "oh oooh we're half way there, oh oooh livin on a prayer" (it's motivational) we heard me friend sam singing "oh oooh livin on a prarie" which i guess make sense...you can live on a prarie but the entire track team stopped to laugh at her.
later she admitted that she used to think that the jingle for folgers coffee "the best part of waking up is folgers in your cup" was "the best part of waking up is roosters in your cup"
she says because their emblem includes a rooster...i'm not gonna giver her that one, that's just wierd
when i was a little kid in primary school we would have to sing the Australian national anthem at assembly every Monday morning.
I guess they didn't do such a great job with teaching us the words, because until the age of 10 i was absolutely convinced that the line "Australians, all let us rejoice" was actually "Australians all love ostriches". As a child I didn't even think it odd enough to question why we were all professing our love for a native African bird every week.
The LMC vs. U2 song 'Take Me to The Clouds Above'.
I used to sing, "Take me to the power bus."
I used to think that "Here Comes the Hotstepper - Murderer" - went "Here comes the Hotstepper - Girl A Rock"!!!
And that it was "Boogie with the night" not "Boogie Wonderland"
And many more!
When I was young I thought the chorus of Paul Young's 'Everytime You Go Away' went:
Everytime you go away,
You take a piece of meat with you
(actual lyric 'You take a piece of me with you')
I used to think that while it was very odd that his girlfriend would take meat with her whenever she went away I still couldn't understand why it upset him so much. I figured when I was older I would understand
I always loved the song "Puff the Magic Dragon" but I also thought it was the saddest song ever, and sometimes it would make me cry, but I liked it anyway.
I always thought the little boy Jackie Paper died and misheard the lyrics "Painted wings and giant rings make way for other TOYS" as "Painted wings and giant rings make way for other BOYS", since Jackie Paper had died.
I continued to believe this for a very long time and was very relieved to learn out the truth.
