When I was a little kid and I watched the movie "Grease", I would listen to the song "You're the one that I love" and think that they were saying "You're the wambanabo."

When I was a child, up until I was about 12, I thought the lyrics to Jingle bells contained the line, " One Horse, Soap and Sleigh. It sounded the same to me, and no one noticed until one day I sang it solo.

Back in '94, we caught our friend singing along to Everything But the Girl's "Missing," but rather than singing, "like the deserts miss the rain," he was singing, "...and I miss you like the desert's mystery."

I still kinda like his version.

Now I know that he was singing, "I love a rainy night," but then I thought he was singing, "I love a MANIAC." I mean, he could have been, right?

my friend thought the lyrics to the song "scar tissue" by the red hot chilli peppers were:

'with the bugs that shed this alone with you'

and its actually:

'with the birds i'll share this lonely view'

The song: Conway Twitty's "Hello, Darlin'." The line: "You're just as lovely as you used to be." What I heard: "You're just as ugly as you used to be." I always wondered why he would think "ugly" was a compliment.

I used to believe that Bryan Adam's "Summer of '69" was "I got my first real sex-dream" instead of "I got my first real six-string"

In the Green Day songs, Jesus of Suburbia and Are We The Waiting, they say 'Rage and Love'

I thought they were talking about Rachel Love and assumed this was whatsernames real name.

I used to think that Bob Dylan's "Chimes of Freedom" went, "with signs of neon flashing." Never did understand what soldiers had to do with that.

When I was young, naive, and didn't know every rock band smoked something I thought "Don't fear the reaper" was "Don't feel the reefer."

Stupid reefer...

One of our neighbor kids was learning songs in first grade. I over heard her singing "Land where the pigeons flied ..... from every mountain slide, let freedom ring." Somehow, her version makes more sense today.

In the Green Day song Extraordinary Girl, one line goes 'like a pet left in the rain'. i thought it was 'like a pig left in the rain,' which isn't much different but it sounds much weirder!
