when i was little i had a barney tape with songs and stuff on it. well i was watching a part where they were on a ship and the little dinosaur girl (i forget her name) is singing "my blankie lies over the ocean" and it made me think of the song "my bonnie lies over the ocean"...well i used to think (up until like two minutes ago) that it was "my body lies over the ocean" and i always pictured myself floating on my back in the middle of the ocean....weird....

My friend Shane use to sing at the top of his lungs, Guns & Roses "Take me down to the very last city", only to have us laugh hysterically at him and tell him it is "Take me down to the Paradise City"!!

I used to the the song "Down in the Boondocks" was Down in the Boom box. I always imagined some guy living in a giant boombox out in a swamp.
And the song "Hang on Sloopy"... well I thought it was Hang on Stupid. I wondered why if she loved him why she called him stupid.

In the 70's there was a song out by a band named 'Clout' called 'Substitute' and for years I thought it was a rude song, because I swear I thought it was called 'I'll be a prostitute'

In Eminem's song 'If I Had' he says "I'm tired of using plasic siverware". But I heard it was "I'm tired of using blastin' siverware" and I was thinking, 'if he hates siverware so bad, why do he continue to use it?'

When I was a child I believed that the lyrics in the song My Bonny Is Over The Ocean actually read My Pony Is Over The Ocean. So I thought the song was actually about some horse on a boat far far away from home.

In Fleetwood Mac's song "On the Edge of Seventeen" I thought the lyrics were:

Just like a wild wingdah
Sings a song sounds like she's singing
Ooh, baby, ooh, say ooh.

I always wondered what a "wild wingdah" looked like - I imagined it was a large bird with enormous brightly colored wings. Guess I had a good imagination :)

i thought that in the song "holly jolly christmas" by burl ives, the line "oh, ho, the mistletoe, hung where you can see." was really... "oh, ho, the mistletoe, hum where you can sing."
why would you hum where you could sing?

I drove across europe with my best friend Jerker in a car listening to ZZ top sleeping bag and singing "Supersonic sleeping baaaaag!" instead of "Slip inside my sleeping bag". I still like my version better.

My mom actually did this but in some song that goes "Takin' care of business, and working over time." she thought it said "Takin care of biscuits, and working over time"

When I was in High School a friend of mine was a big fan of Savage Garden. Amongst others, the Animal Song was one of her favourites. She used to sing "I want to live like cannon balls" instead of "I want to live like animals". And then "I want to run through the jungle with wind in my hair and the smell of my feet" instead of "I want to run through the jungle with wind in my hair and the sand at my feet". !!! I haven't seen her in years but always remember her with fondness when I hear this song.
