Cant remember who sang it, but there was a song called 'Poetry in Motion' and I always used to sing 'Oh a tree in motion'
A friend of my brother used to sing 'Old Piano' instead of 'Oh Vienna' (Ultravox - Viena)
I thought that in "Let it Be" they were singing "Let it Pee" and I just couldn't figure out why anyone would NOT let someone else pee.
I used to believe that the song Tainted Love was really Janes in Love and i used to sing it really loudly because its my name!
When I was about 7 there was this song where they sang about "the stuff that dreams are made of" but I thought they were saying "the star track dream tomato" and I imagined that the song was about a space ship shaped like a giant tomato.
The song "blue" by effiel 65..the part where they say..I'm blue da ba dee da ba di ..I used to think it said...I'm blue I'm in need of a guy
I always thought the opening lyrics to "Burnout" by Green Day were, "I declare a nuclear war" instead of "I declare I don't care no more." I could never figure out how this had relevance to the rest of the song...
I used to think that Frankie Avalon sang, "Hey Penis, Oh, penis..." instead of "Hey Venus."
For years, I thought that in Don McLean's "American Pie" he said:
When the jester sang for the King and Queen
In a Coke bottle from James Dean
(The actual words are:
When the jester sang for the King and Queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean )
That Kenny Loggins song.. "I'm Alright..." I thought he was singing "Ham on Rye...nobody worry 'bout me...you've got to give me a slice...why can't you just let it be?"
My friend, lisa, used to think the Eurythmics song "walking on broken glass" was "walking on broken backs. Yes, she's blonde;-)
I knew that when my friends said that toxic by britney spears said
your toxic, im slipping under.
Right that second i know they were wrong. It was obviously
Your toxic tongue's slipping under.
I used to think Estelles song Free started with the lyrics everybody puts your tits in the air. I only believed it was ''fists'' when my friend printed the lyrics off the net for me. Still think tits is better though
Dido - White Flag
Real Words - I will go down with this ship, and i will put my hands up ...
What i thought - I will go down with fishing, and i will put my hands up ...
When my brother was little he used to sing these lyrics to mariah careys fantasy:
Baby im so ichy poo

Darling, if you only knew
Not from my childhood, but worht a mention. Last year when I had heard Nightwish' song "Wish I had an angel", I remember I misunderstood the line "Beauty always comes with bad thoughts" and thought it was "beauty always comes with buttocks" =) Really!
When I was young, I truly believed that in the song 'I can see clearly now' by Jimmy Cliff was in fact 'I can see Kealy now Lorraine has gone'. From such a young age I learnt that men were not nice to women. I was both dissapointed and relieved when I learnt the truth.
I used to believe (and still do) that the line in the oasis song "wonderwall" was your gonna be the one at sainsbury's instead of your gonna be the one that saves me!
Corey Hart-Sunglasses at night
Thought:
Super souffle with the guy in shades oh no.
Actual:
Don't switch the blade on the guy in shades oh no.
The words of the theme song of the Flintstones always eluded me. I thought they said,"Flintstones we're the Flintstones, we're the mon-historic family. That's right, out of Bedrock they're a place right out in this story. Then we'll see the family on the street then we will see Fred's transwell feet. Flintstones we're the flintstones etc. etc."
Don't ask me what 'transwell feet' are...many they "transport you well"?
Anyhoo...I've got the REAL words now...what a disappointment!
When I was a kid, I always thought the words to the song "Take My Breath Away" were saying 'take off your clo-thing'.
I know better now, but I still like my version better.
