I used to be sure that Elton John and John Lennon were the same person - I'd heard some Beatles as a little boy, but knew that no one but a Beatle could have sung Rocket Man. It also made sense since Paul McCartney had 'Uncle Albert' out around the same time.
My little sister told all her friends that Clint Eastwood was the singer of the band Gorrilaz.. ^^;
When I was 11, I started getting into music, and Foreigner, at the time, ruled the radio. I therefore thought they were considered universally one of the all-time great bands, alongside the Beatles.
I used to believe that when stars were called pre-madonna's (prima donnas) that it has something to do with the way Madonna used to act before she before famous or something...i still don't actually know what it means...
top belief!
may the muse of good music forgive me for this...
i used to think that Elvis Presley was Elton John, that the George from the Beatles was Boy George, and that George Michael was George Harrison. it took me years to sort them all out.
When i was like 4 my dad had a bunch of 8 tracks. I used to think meat loaf and bread were like the same band lol.

For the longest time I didn't know that Spinal Tap wasn't a real group. No wonder I couldn't find their music.

My mother used to call me a Prima Donna. I always thought it was a compliment, because I wasn't allowed to listen to Madonna because she was trashy. Therefore, a pre-Madonna must mean an older, classier kind of star!
i used to believe that lisa stansfield and yazz were the same person. Until one day yazz was on itv and lisa was in going live (bbc1), I couldn't understand how they could be in two places at the one time and i was so confused. but i was only five so...
Growing up in the sixties, I used to think that the stranger the name of the group, the harder and more radical their music must be. Thus The Doors must be something simple and tame like the Beatles (early), Monkeys or the Lettermen. But Strawberry Alarm Clock, 1910 Fruitgum Company or Paul Revere and the Raiders must be really out there, Man!
I used to believe that Michael Jackson and Prince (or the "Artist Formerly Known as Prince) were brothers because of their physical and on-stage similarities.

I use to think that the people on the cover of the Genisis CD cover(the band) was just phil collins at different ages.

I remember being seven years old, living in Sweden, and being appalled by the disgusting name of a rock band. The band was Kiss. "Kiss" means "pee" in Swedish.
This is so embarracing...I had such a cruch on Peter Andre when I was about 10, that I 'officially' changed my name to Champagne because my sister told me that was the name of the girl in the 'Mysterious Girl' video, and that she was really his girlfriend. I woudn't answer to anyone calling me Katy. Now i feel pretty silly because it wasn't even true!!
When I was real little, I thought that they probably didn't have music in Communist countries because everybody never talked about that.
When I got a bit older, I knew they had music in those countries but probably not rock and roll. They just listened to classical music, jazz, and folk music.
I started reading about famous pop stars from the Eastern bloc a few years ago on the net and began to listen to their music...boy, that changed everything and I have heard some amazing stuff from those places!
(Could you imagine a band singing the Beatles in Croatian in 1964, no doubt?)
until I found out their real names a few years ago, I always thought the Ramones really were brothers.
I used to think that Micheal Jordan and Micheal Jackson were the same person!

When I was little I thought Elvis died from a peanut allergy because he supposedly liked fried peanut butter sandwiches.
I used to believe that Michael Jackson was a robot because i believed that he was made entirely out of plastic. When precilla Presley was going to marry him,i didn't understand how she could marry a robot.

While walking home from junior high school I would sing, thinking that there would be a talent scout in one of the cars who would discover me and I'd be a star.
