When I was little, I used to think my dad was in def leppard.

When I was in high school the Pastor's wife was vehemently telling me how horrible the band Blue Oyster Cult is, because cults worship the devil and go to hell. I tried to explain to her that they weren't really a cult, that's just the name of their band. She wouldn't believe me, and I didn't dare tell her I had their albums!

I used to believe that Ray Charles was Stevie Wonder's father. I remember telling my oldest brother this (8 years older). He responded by saying, "Just because they are both singers, blind and black, doesn't mean they're related!!"

20 years later, my brother told me he was very impressed at how "logical" I was at 7 years old, even though I was completely misguided in this particular belief.

For years I heard of singer Waylon Jennings without otherwise being aware of any such name as "Waylon". I thought they were calling him "Wailin' Jennings" and that that must be a nickname acquired because somebody charaterized his singing as wailing.

When I was about 7 or 8 (in the early 1990s), I was riding with my uncle in his car. He had some music playing, and when I asked him who it was he said, "Alice in Chains." Apparently I must not have noticed that a man was singing, because I answered, "Oh, I've never heard of her before!"

when I was really little, I used to think celebrities were immortal and never died if enough people liked them. That delusison was erased after aaliyah died, but still to this day, I think the Dixie Chicks are immortals.

I used to think that John Travolta was a singer who had a go at acting a few times when I was younger. I don't know why...

I used to listen to oldies on the radio all the time. My favorite artists were the Beach Boys, and I always pictured them as really cool, hip surfers. But then I saw an old clip of them performing in formal wear and I was incredibly disappointed because I thought they were nerds.

Also, I used to have a record player in my room with an Elvis record. I actually thought Elvis was a comedian because I heard the girls screaming and thought they were just laughing really loudly.

when i was little, I used to think the Rolling Stones were black, because Dad listened to them as well as black performers. When I saw a video, I asked every1 if they knew the Stones were white.I didnt realise theyd been around 4 years before I was born....I got strange looks from everyone. a compliment to Mick, Im sure

When I was about 7 or 8 I was sitting in the back of the car singing along to a Blondie song and casually said to my mom, "Don't I just sound just like Debbie Harry". I think my mom spluttered something in the negative, although to this day I still think I sound just like Debbie Harry and put it down to jealously of my singing prowess on my mom's part

when i was younger, i was convinced that the pop band Steps were following me around and spying on me - even when i was in the toilet (if your american reading this then you just have to know that they were a very cheesy '90s pop band).i never thought about the logistics of this and i wasn't particularly bothered by this as i absolutely loved them at the time.

I thought Michael Jackson, Boy George and Hanson were all girls! Very embarrassed now just thinking about that.

I grew up in Florida, and when I heard people talk about Jacksonville, I assumed it was a little Smurf village where Michael Jackson's family lived.

I watched a Michael Jackson music video with my brother, and we were convinced he was a woman.

I still think to this day that Michael and Janet Jackson are the same person. Think about it, they've never been seen together, and they both have the same nose! I also thought that Prince and Michael Jackson were the same.
