When I was little and John Cougar changed his name to John Mellencamp I remember thinking did he get married?

I used to think that AC/DC stood for the first letters of the band members' names. Oh, how mistaken I was.

I also thought that the Rolling Stones were stone rollers, (which meant the rolled stones down hills as a hobby) Rob Zombie was actually a ghost story called "Rob the Zombie," and that Michael Jackson was best friends with Prince. o_O I was a wierd kid. (Still am, I'm 12 now. ^^;)

i used to believe that pop stars were little robots that were plugged into the microphone befor every show. that way, they would never mess up.

My brother convinced me that "Kate Bush" was actually a swear word, he then bullied me to say it. I wouldn't, he then went round shouting the name and I was amazed no-one told him off. Actually, now I think it would be a great swear word.

Until recently, my friend believed that Richard Starkey was the fifth Beatle.

My aunt and uncle are in a band called the Cucumbers. For some reason, I always used to get them confused with the Beatles. I never wondered why their band seemed to be so famous though no one had heard of my aunt and uncle...

When I was younger, I thought that Backstreet Boys & N*sync were the same band. I thought it was weird that they would have two different band names. Once N*sync's song was on, and I said outloud, "Why does N*sync have another name?"

My sister thought I was so stupid, once I explained to her that Backstreet Boys and N*sync were the same band.

This is so embarracing...I had such a cruch on Peter Andre when I was about 10, that I 'officially' changed my name to Champagne because my sister told me that was the name of the girl in the 'Mysterious Girl' video, and that she was really his girlfriend. I woudn't answer to anyone calling me Katy. Now i feel pretty silly because it wasn't even true!!

Champagne....haha

I used to think that Micheal Jackson was Elvis Presley's son. I have know idea why. It still puzzles me to this day. Plus, wouldn't his name be Micheal Presley?

As a kid I thought that the lyrics to "Bette Davis Eyes" (Kim Carnes) went, "She's got every day massage." Like the woman of the song got to get a massage every day.

Also, I swore that Blondie was a man... especially when listening to the song "Tide is High," even though in the song she says she's "not the kind of girl..." etc. I couldn't figure out why a man would be singing those lyrics because the voice OBVIOUSLY (to me) belonged to a man.

When I was little, there were a lot of teen singers and bands, so I asumed all singers were around 16. If I heard of a singer who was over 20 I would be like " Oh my gosh, they're old!"

I used to think "Led Zeppelin" was a solo artist or something and his name actually was "Led Zeppelin"

When I was 5 years old, my favorite song of all time was The Yellow Submarine by the Beatles. I really thought that those guys learned how to travel in a submarine and actually recorded the song while inside one under water. I guess their sound effects were a little too convincing for me!

When I was younger I believed that some songs should have been by different bands.

Iron Man was by Iron Maiden and not Black Sabbath
Cars was by the Cars and not Gary Numan
Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go was by the Go-Gos and not Wham

Far earlier I also believed that "I Ran" by A Flock of Seagulls was a metal song because it had distorted guitars and a solo.

I used to believe that, when a name appeared on a record, that person was responsible for every sound on it (of course, that would be true for Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney and Prince, not to mention sometimes Danielle Dax, but I digress...). Unlike Hasil Adkins, however, I did not try and play guitar and drums simultaneously as a result. I think I figured out there had to be some kind of trickery involved (though I still used to wonder how Joni Mitchell managed to sing two lines that overlapped in 'Big Yellow Taxi' - VOCAL overdubs never dawned on me...).

that was one freaky mental image and it gave me nightmares for months!

When I was little I just knew there were five Beatles. My father had some Beatles records, some of John Lennon's and George Harrison's respective solo albums and, near them, some Bob Dylan records, so I figured he must be the fifth one.

I have always been a big fan of Fleetwood Mac, and I used to think (still do actually) that I was the long lost daughter of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, and they had to put me up for adoption since they were on tour at the time, and that they are out looking for me now.
