Because of that Simpsons episode, I thought Weird Al Yankovic was the original performer of the song "Jack and Diane."

When I was younger my Granma & Grandad lived round the corner from Elton Road. My Grandad once told me it was called this because Elton John lived there. I believed him for years and years. I would tell my friends that Elton John lived round the corner from my Grandad! It was only a few months ago (i'm now 22) that I found out he was winding me up. I was so sad that my claim to fame wasn't true.

I used to think there was a special high school just for celebrities to go to, so they could get an education without being surrounded by non-celebrities that would fawn over them all day. It wasn't until I was about eleven that I learned that most celebrities are either out of school or home schooled.

When I learned that Rick Allen, the drummer from Def Leppard, had only one arm I can remember thinking, "Well, at least he plays drums and not something like the guitar where you need two hands!" As a small kid growing up, I only really heard the snare drum and cymbals in music and I was convinced that you only needed one arm to play drums properly!

When I was young, I ALWAYS mixed up George Micheal and Freddy Mercury for some reason. Imagine the confusion when Freddy died and George did a tribute...

I knew that crazy glue was pretty strong. So as my obsession with Stevie Wonder grew as I child, I vowed that when I was old enough, I would shave my head and glue a beaded braid wig on.

I used to believe that John Lennon had been poisoned. I knew that he'd been murdered, but I thought someone had injected him with something. I was only 2 or 3 when he died, and I finally realized that I must have heard news reports that he'd been "shot." I guess as a small child, the word "shot" suggested a needle rather than a gun.

In the early 1970s, a teenaged babysitter brought an album by "The Guess Who" over to the house. I was old enough to read, and upon studying the name on the album cover, demanded to know what group this was. She answered, "Guess Who", to which I replied, "I can't guess! Tell me!"

It took her quite awhile to get me to understand that this was a name of a group...and for years afterward, I always mixed them up with The Who.

A few years ago I used to think No Doubt (Gwen Stefani) was a hip-hop band because the song "No Diggity, No Doubt" by blackstreet boys was hip-hop and I got confused with the words No Doubt thinking only "gangstas" and "thugs" used that phrase.
