I used to think that my dad was the bass player for AC/DC. I don't exactly remember how I came by this belief, but I think it has something to do with the fact that my mom and I were listening to AC/DC when I asked her what band my dad was in.

My ex-girlfriend took a lot of convincing that Annie Lennox was the lead singer of the Eurythmics, & not just a singer who sang in a similar style.

When Bruce Springsteen's Darkness on the Edge of twon came on the radio I used to freak out because he talked about lying in bed next to Kate. I was only about 9 or 10. I used to get up real close to the speaker because I thought that the air being forced out with every beat was actually Bruce's breath.

My babysitter told me that my Mom was once a famous singer named "Crystal". He also said her career was really taking off until I came along and ruined her voice by being born.

I lived with that guilt for years. The same guy convinced me that I was Jewish. This went on for years.

I didn't know Weird Al was doing parodies until I was in sixth grade. I still think his versions are better.

Growing up in the sixties, I used to think that the stranger the name of the group, the harder and more radical their music must be. Thus The Doors must be something simple and tame like the Beatles (early), Monkeys or the Lettermen. But Strawberry Alarm Clock, 1910 Fruitgum Company or Paul Revere and the Raiders must be really out there, Man!

When my much younger sister was about three or four she was watching a video clip on television and said to me "Who is that lady?"

I said with out trying to laugh, "It's Michael Jackson" as I honestly couldn't say anything else ... Lucky she didn't ask me again!

I was about 10 or 11 when I first heard of Marilyn Manson. This was also the first time I'd heard of the name Marilyn, so I thought it was a man's name. A little later, I heard about Marylin Monroe, but when I saw a picture of 'him' I was shocked to see 'he' was a WOMAN! I was like, "a woman called Marylin!?"

I believed that when I watched the labyrinth or listened to David Bowie songs, David could see and hear me and was singing to and about me, and acting just for me in the film, if you know what I mean. David used to make me feel very bashful and shy, seeing has he's so good looking and impressive. I was convinced we were friends.

I also thought that Lindsifame wrote the song Lady Eleanor about me (seeing as it's my name) and that when they sung it they were inside my tape player singing it TO me. My mum used to put it on the stereo when she gave me a bath and I would blush and get really shy.

I'm 20 now and still have a massive crush on David Bowie.

I was watching a concert on tv. They announced the next performers would be
"Olivia New and John".

I thought it was weird for the guy to have no last name, and then it got even weirder because only one woman performed. It was years before I realised it was Olivia Newton John.

Someone once told me that Mariah Carey was a "white girl with a black soul" so I thought she was born in a black family but was white, thus making her feel kind of left out.
