Once I was watching Janet Jackson's "Miss You Much" music video. My sister came in and proudly announced: "I always KNEW that Michael Jackson is gay! In this video he looks exactly like a girl!"

I used to believe The Who were named for the programme 'Doctor Who'. Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer must have thought the same because they did a sketch on 'Shooting Stars' where four incarnations of the Doctor were singing and playing 'My Generation'!

When I was in middleschool, U2 had a hit with "The Sweetest Thing." I used to hear this song on some radio station that played pop and r&b in equal doses, and for some reason I got the impression that U2 and Boyz II Men were really similar. Thus, I just assumed all the members of U2 were black.

This isn't my belief, but a friend's. A few days ago (I'm 10), I was testing some classmates of mine on pop culture (Doctor Who, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, ect.) and mentioned that I knew the names of the Beatles at an early age (John, Paul, George, and Ringo). He then claimed he thought there were 5 members. Then he asked something horrifying, "The Beatles, aren't they B-5?". I assumed that B-5 was a modern boy band and that my friend had thought that "The Beatles" was some sort of nickname for them. My dad (the man responsible for my pop culture I. Q.) confirmed my fears. Let this be a lesson to fathers everywhere, educate your children about pop culture before their friends put the misunderstandings on this site!

When I was 14 and a big Michael Jackson-fan, I read in a magazine that he was seeing Brooke Shields. In my diary there is a "letter" to Michael about him deceiving me with Brooke....When I read it, I can almost see the tear-prints on the diary-page...!

I used to believe that Michael Jackson and Prince (or the "Artist Formerly Known as Prince) were brothers because of their physical and on-stage similarities.

I was around the age of 7 and my older my brother was a Green Day fan. Well both he and my dad watched alot of football. And I thought that Green Day was the Green Bay Packers. I couldn't figure out why a football team would make a CD. Now 13 years later, Green Day is one of my favorite bands. Ironic!

I used to watch a lot of music videos on VH1, so I thought Marilyn Monroe (from Elton John's Candle in the Wind video) and Madonna were the same person. I remember reasoning that he must have had a big crush on her.

When I was younger, I used to think that when the radio played a song, that the performer was in the studio. I wondered how all of those people fit in there.

Recently when they were advertising the movie "Scary Movie 3" my little brother (6) was watching when they showed a clip of a Michael Jackson look-alike screaming. He turned to me and asked "Why is that lady screaming?"
