When I was little I thought that Prince and Michael Jackson were brothers...I mean they do look alot alike though. And I had a hard enough time figuring out which on was Michael in the Jackson 5. But I never figured out which one was Price. And upon asking my mom which one he was, my misunderstanding was corrected.

I took my little 8 year old cousin to watch that Romeo and Juliet movie with Leonardo Di Caprio. When we came back home, we were watching MTV and then this Smashing Pumpkins video, "Tonight tonight" came on, and she thought Billy Corgan was Leonardo Di Caprio for some odd reason!

When I was little, when the band Years And Years emerged, I thought that the radio said that they were playing a song from 'years and years [ago]'. Being a kid who only liked new songs, I would switch over whenever they'd play. When I heard 'King' on the radio regularly though, I was surprised because I thought it was an old song.

When the film 'Platoon' came out, I bought the soundtrack. I thought Smokey Robinson must be a woman because his/her voice was so high.

I use to believe that Geddy Lee was a woman...I mean, who didn't? In my mind he looked like Melissa Ethridge.

When I was growing up, I happened to see something on TV about Madonna. This was when she was going through her "Marilyn Monroe" phase, and the people on the TV show made a big deal of this. Somehow, this gave me the impression that Madonna was a group, and not an individual performer, and the lead singer of this group was named Marilyn Monroe. So, when I read somewhere that Marilyn Monroe had died in 1960 or thereabouts, I was extremely confused...

I used to believe Britney Spears was the greatest singer of all time, and wished I could sound like her. I wondered why my recordings on my mini-tape recorder thing never sounded as polished. THEN Alanis Morissette's comeback single came out when I was about 11. Now I wonder how Britney ever made it...and yes I now know about high-tech recording studios, and most people think I'm a better singer than Britney.

Also, I didn't know about miming. Once, S Club 7 were on TOTP I said "They must be standing VERY close to their microphones to sound that much like they do on CD!!!" Welcome, Abbie, to the world of MIMING.

Also, I didn't know that the Carpenters' names were actually Karen and Richard CARPENTER. I always did wonder where they got their band name from.

Now I'm 14 all that's been cleared up, thank goodness!!

I used to believe that the Beatles, Phil Collins, Elton John, Tears for Fears, Def Leppard, Steve Winwood, etc. were american, because they did not sound like they had british accents while they sang.

When I was really little I'd only heard of Michael Jackson, never seen him. My parents were watching tv and there was one of his videos on, in which a mob break into an old spooky mansion and Michael Jackson was dancing there. I thought that M.J. was a girl and therefore this old man with glasses who was the head of the mob was Michael Jackson. I like my MJ better.
