I was a kid when the Soviets got Sputnik up. I asked my father if that wasn't dangerous--I thought we lived inside the earth, and that a satellite would poke a hole through the other side when it came our way. After he stopped laughing, he explained that we actually lived on the outside. Then, I worried about falling off!

When I was about 6, I heard about how the Earth is eventually going to be swallowed up by the Sun. For some reason I became obsessed with this and even though I knew it wasn't going to happen for a billion years or so - I still spent about 6 months in a state of perpetual panic.
one of my best friends has several theorys...
-the world is flat.
-space is a conspiracy
-there are 3420000 other worlds with identical versions of ourselves on them.
she is only 14!
When I was about 4 I found a rock in our backyard, and I don't know how but I concluded that since I hadn't seen it there before it had fallen there from the moon, and my parents agreed w/me and let me believe that for the longest time ...I used to brag to my friends that I had a piece of the moon up until I was like 10... boy did I feel dumb when I found out it was just a stupid rock.
When I was little, I used to think that the nine planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, etc., were all located inside the "world", which looked like our globe. So North America was "Earth", and each of the other continents was also a planet. It never occurred to me that there weren't nine continents. And I thought "space" was the area between the planets inside the world, and outside the world was "outer space." It wasn't untill later that I figured out that Earth and the World were the same thing.

A friend of mine believed that planets could become pregnant and give birth to new planets. She claimed that she saw a planet-birth on TV.
Needless to say, I was rather confused by hearing this, and spent the next few months wondering whether or not I should believe her. :-)

I used to believe that when the cow "jumped over the moon", he milked on it so that's why the moon was white..and was made of cheese because milk was in the moon.
When I was little my oldest brother told me that if you whistled at the Northern Light they would come down and take you away.
I used to believe that if you counted all the stars in the sky, a shooting star would appear and place itself somewhere in my honour just because I had accomplished the task of counting every star in the sky.
I used to believe that if you saw the first star of the night and said "Star light, star bright, first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight" your wish would be granted. I thought you could trick it too, pretend that you only saw one star even if you'd seen more.
When I was younger I used to believe that the moon was made of cheese. I used to want to be an astronaught so I could go to the moon and eat some moon-cheese. I never stopped to think that Wallice and Gromit's 'Grand Day Out' may not actually be true!!
until i was about 6, i was completely convinced the moon was made of pudding. i would always try to convince my mom to take me to the moon so i could try the pudding.
when i was little i thought that the moon was another earth. and i couldn't understand why i could see it in the middle of the day. cauz i figured when it got dark earth went away so we could see it in the sky (but it was really the moon)
i believed that the moon was made of cheese and i tried to go up there but couldn't

When I was 7, there was a speical about asteriods, since there was one that was passing by Earth. I didn't understand it correctly, and I thought the asteriod was going to hit Earth and kill everyone. So I bothered my father daily to make a basement to protect us, and when he told me 'no', I made my own fort and would spend all day looking for any asteriods in the sky.
When I was about 6 or 7 i used to think we lived INSIDE the world I thought that the earth was a hollow ball of dirt and we all lived inside it. My belief wsa confirmed when on a train i looked out of the window the clouds parted and is saw the top of the world!(it was really the moon but i couldnt see the whole thing)And i thought astronauts would fly throught little crater like holes when they went into space.
When I was little I believed that every night my Grandpa would get out a ladder and hang the moon. There was a moon mobile in a mall near my house and I thought he put that up too, but not everyday.
my family and I were vacationing at the beach, and we were fishing pretty late into the day. I remember looking up and asking my mom how they got all those streetlights into the sky (stars).

I was playing with a friend when I first saw a quarter moon. I went inside and nervously informed my mother, "Mom...Sorry but, I broke the moon."
I used to think you had to get off planet Earth and get on a spaceship to go to another country and that all countries were different planets.
