When I was young I used to believe that when a tree lost it's leaves in autumn, It meant that the leaves turned into crows and ravens so they could fly away.
When I was about 5 or 6, an older kid at my Day Care told me that if I put a stick in the ground and stuck a leaf on it near the top, it would grow into a tree. I believed him, so everyday when we were out on the playground, I would take a stick, stick a leaf on top, and stick it in the mulch around the jungle gym..Then I would yell at anyone who even touched it "YOU'RE KILLING MY TREE!"
When I was little I thought that a "wallflower" was a kind of flower that grew on walls.
I used to think that grass only grew during the time people were standing on it. How else could I understand the shoe-shaped tufty bits in the lawn at home?
i was convinced that evergreen trees were maple trees and i wouldn't go near them because I saw an evil looking one in Snow White.
We have a garden at my parents' house and when I was five we sowed carrot seeds. I looked at the package of the seeds and what I saw I thought were sausages so I asked my mom: are we going to sow sausages too? she answered those are just thick carrots....
I believed for the longest time that you could find out how old a tree is be counting the leaves. The really strange part is that I was told this by my teacher.
I used to believe that if I broke a piece of grass in half and replanted the pieces, two new pieces of grass would grow.
I used to belive that the wind blew the trees. Ever since the 2020 derecho I've been seeing things a little differently the trees move more and faster before the wind even picks up I don't believe it matters if trees are near by. I think the wind is the trees communing with everything of course it would be more wind as the message has further to go to be passed on
I used to think that you could bring dead flowers back to life if you watered them.
I was told by my horrible lying cousin that the trees with the long funny dangly pods were spagetti trees, it took me till the age of about 17 to work out that spaggetti did not grow on trees humpf
I used to think our gray furry cat was somehow related to the blooms on our backyard pussy willow tree! I think I got the idea since cats are also called "pussy" cats...
When I was about 8, I was climbing in a maple tree in the yard. Then I saw that some of the leaves had red bumps on them. I thought that the disease could be contaigous from trees to people. I was so scared that I jumped out of the tree without looking down.
i Used to belive that if roses were yellow it ment that someone had peeded on them when the were growing, and if they were red it ment they grew up nomarly
When I was a child I was told if I smell red-weed flower and put it very near my eyes I would go blind. And I still believe that. Never smell those flowers, even I like them .. just in case :)
When I was I young I believed that it was the trees that made all the wind. I used to lay in the grass watching the trees doing their work and especially on a hot summers day enjoy their special gift: a breeze!
i used to believe trees made the wind
Once when I was about seven, my older sister told me that people would come out at night and, color our leaves on our trees and then drop them all on the ground.
i used to belief that if i will be brave enough to go out at midnight under a full moon and to stand and wait in front of a banana tree, it's bunch's heart(flower) will open up and it's sap will give me power of invisibility =)
I used to believe in "burr magnets". I had a winter coat that was one. Every time I played in the ravine, I would come home with burrs on my coat, even though I didn't go anywhere near a burdock bush!
