I thought that aeroplane vapour trails were the cause of clouds. I think my mother told me at some point that the stuff that came out of the back of a plane was water vapour, which is what clouds are made from, and I interpreted this to mean that that was how all clouds were made. That and the cooling towers of a power plant near my home. I didn't think it was there specifically to make clouds, I just thought they were a side effect.
You know how people tell young children that when it rains, god is crying? Well, when I was young, I believed that when it rained, it was the clouds peeing! Needless to say, I never went out in the rain without an umbrella.
Once when I was about 5, I asked my older sister ( Who was only about 8)
what clouds were. She told me once she was in a plane and somehow opened the window. She said it felt fluffy and tasted yummy....I admit I believed her at the time!
When i was younger my grandmother told me that when it rained, all the angels up in heaven were having a washing day and pouring their water over the clouds! I still think that it is a realy nice way to picture rain
I used to believe that when it rained God was peeing on me.
I knew about the weather balloon and how they let it go up into the sky but I use to believe that we knew what the weather was going to be like because God would put a sticky note or something on it and send it back down to the weather people.
i used to believe that when it rained god was having a shower
When I was younger, my brother told me that smokestacks in big industries made the clouds and that inside these buildings were little elves that worked continuously to keep the clouds coming. I was so amazed at this that every time we passed one I'd stare so I could catch a glimpse of an elf. I found out about 4 years later that clouds were not made there and no elves were hired to make them.
when i was young i used to believe that when it was foggy, it was because the clouds were asleep
top belief!
When I was either in kindergarten or grade one, we were out for recess and I looked up to see a hazy rainbow around the sun. I was amazed and asked an older girl (who was helping to supervise our class, I think) what caused it & she told me that it was because at that moment, everyone in the world was happy. I still think of her response whenever I see that phenomenon - what a nice answer to a little girl's question.
when i was younger whaen it was foggy i thought god put an empty milk carton around the Earth
When I was young (7 or 8) I would believe that everytime it rained that God was having a little party w/ his friends in heaven and were bowling (don't ask) anyways whenever it would thunder i would always believe that God got a strike and the bowling pins made the crashing sound. And when lighting stiked that was the floors surface splitting for a second whenever a bowling ball hit the floor to hard at the bowling alley. i was a very imagative kid!
When I was about 5, I used to believe that it rained because god was crying. I used to pray to him and try to cheer him up. HA!
When I was about 4 , I asked my mom why it rains and she told me that all these birds had to hold it in for a really long time and when it was decided , they all let off at the same time and it was the rain. I believed that for a good long time.
I use to believe that if the clouds were gray it was because they were filled with dirt and then the rain came to rinse them off and they'd be white again.
I used to believe that went the sun went down, it went down into the ground over in China.
My aunt had my cousin convinced that clouds were made by sticking cotton balls together with peanut butter and throwing them up into the air.
My dad worked on a plant of some sort. They had those huge stacks with all the smoke coming out. One day I went up there with my mom and I saw the smoke, I truly believed that my dad made clouds all day! But no, he was just polluting.. ha.
top belief!
I was about 6-- After I saw the movie Mary Poppins, I thought that people really could fly if they held an umbrella in the wind.
One day there was a storm, with a lot of wind rattling the windows. I argued with my mother for what seemed like HOURS, to let me go outside with an umbrella and fly.
When I was much smaller, I lived quite close to a Highway, in a qutie rural location with lots of trees and fields. Everytime a whole bunch of cars or a big transport would speed past my house, all of the trees would be caused to breeze over. Thus, I thought that wind came from cars and trucks driving really fast!
