I used to believe that when the wind was blowing that meant the earth was turning.

Used to believe the sunbeams that stream down through a hole in an
overcast sky were, literally, stairways to heaven. They looked so solid
and golden against all that gray.

I used to think that when the weatherman said "Sunny Spells" it was when it was sunny and raining at the same time, some kind of M A G I C !

Living in Ohio as a little kid, I heard stuff about Tornadoes (they "fly" around, you gotta hide in the basement, they throw stuff around and are very dangerous and big). I believed, then, that a tornado was a gigantic flying Bug.

When I was little, my Nanna used to tell me that when it rained, it meant the Angels were angry and the rain drops were the Angels furniture being thrown around.

I use to believe that in the winter time if everybody would open their doors that the outside would warm up and no one would have to wear a coat to keep warm. It was so odd to me that the inside the house was so warm, the outside so cold, but if everyone could just warm up the outside by opening the doors so the heat would go outside.

Among many many things my parents led me to believe, the two that stick out most in my mind is that it only rained when I was bad (I always found myself trying to remember what I had done when it would start to rain). And the best one, you get canker sores in your mouth from telling a lie. I have managed to keep these "tales" in the family and passed them on to my children! HA!

I used to think our house was on the equator because once it rained in the back garden and was sunny in the front garded.

When I was a little girl, I believed that the sun was "going inside" to get a cookie from his mother whenever it was covered by a cloud. When the day was particularly cloudy, and the sun was going "in and out" alot, then eventually became overcast, I thought "he" got in trouble for asking his mother for a cookie too many times and had to stay inside.

When my daughter was younger, she came in one day after being outside and announced, "Mom, it sure is human outside!"

When I was quite young I knew there were two kinds of snow: white and black. I didn't know where the black snow came from but I knew where to find it -- alongside the road. One day I said to myself (because I also thought I had to explain my actions by thinking out loud, like on TV) that I was already familiar with the taste of white snow but not black snow. So I scooped up a handful and put it in my mouth. Needless to say, it tasted just awful and I never did that again!

My daughter told me that she thought the falling snow was caused when the clouds got cold and krinkled up and fell to earth. (this is in fact fairly accurate!)

When I was very young I used to think that the rays of sunshine that came through the clouds was God touching the earth.

Needless to say now I'm an athiest.

Well, I used to believe that it was raining because God was irrigating his flowers, which were dibbled on the clouds. When the sky was clear, the God's garden had just mooved to an other place :-)

This is actually my little brother`s belief: When it was raining outside, he thought it was God who took a piss :D. And when it was windy, he thought God was using a vacuumcleaner, and cleaned heaven!

I used to believe that snow on the ground was clouds that were too tired to fly.

I used to believe that when you could see rays of sunshine coming through the clouds that they were ladders to heaven, and that if you could just find the bottom you could climb up and visit with God.

I used to believe that wind came from the earth spinning faster. It seemed to make sense at the time.
