I used to believe that if I ran fast enough I could outrun the rain.
It wasn't until 2 years ago that I found out it snowed on the Jersey shore. And I'm 22 and live in Pennsylvania.
I really thought that every beach everywhere was warm and tropical year round.
I used to believe that my choice of pyjamas to wear would determine the following day's weather.
I once asked my dad if the stars were the holes in the sky where the rain fell through - that's why it fell in droplets.
When I was about 5 years old I believed that if I put a thermometer in the freezer, it would start to snow outside. I even tried it once but my grandmother found out and put a quick stop to my experiment.
When i was little i used to believe that i could suck up a tornado in a vaccuum if it came in my house.
I used to believe that if you went up higher,it would become hotter, but the fiirst time I got on an airplane it was actually cooler
I used to believe that if you poked a cloud with a really long stick rain would come out.
When I was 4 or 5 there was a stormy night where my mom got us up out of bed to take shelter. She turned on the radio and they were saying "This is a tornado warning." I figured that a tornado warning was the authorities warning the tornado that it better not come into our city.
When I was in first grade(1959-1960), we had a hurricane hit Massachussetts. I was watching the T.V. weatherman who kept talking about the "eye" of the storm. I believed it was an actual big eye! And I was so scared to go into the bathroom, because I thought there would be this big eye looking at me through the bathroom window. I was in and out of the bathroom so fast!
I used to believe that I was the only one who could see the clouds move.
For some reason at one point when I was a kid I thought tornadoes were a good thing and wished we lived somewhere where the was a tornado everyday (ya I was weird)
When I was 7 walking back home from the park one day it was really windy. Annoyed with the wind because it was loud and making it harder to walk I stood there with a finger to my lips and shouted SHHHHHH. The wind calmed down. I was convinced for years that I had control over the wind and when was doing something outside an it was hot I used to tell it to give me a breeze. What didn't actually help was a breeze usually came along
I used to think that a shadow could have a shadow since I had multiple lights in my house I thought they made it easier to find these shadows like breaking portals to other dimensions and I even made a whole theory as why I thought this. I showed this to my 6th grade teacher and he was baffled. I later in a month found out why I was wrong.
That all clouds were made by aeroplane exhaust fumes
My dad told me that in Florida, snow is orange.
I used to believe that the clouds had a fixed position within themselves and if I stood in the same place at the same time every day I would see the same cloud pass by again.
When I was very little, I believed that when people said it might "hail", that little Tasmanian Devils would fall from the sky. I thought they were saying it was "helling" outside.
When I was a kid I was always told that God is in heaven. Of course I then drew the conclusion that if he is there he also sleeps there. So I used to think that when it rained it was God who peed in his bed during sleep.
When I was a child, I used to lie on the hill behind our house and watch the steam engine trains go through the valley, and the big puffs of black smoke form dark clouds. I believed that is how all dark clouds were formed and argued with the teacher (and everyone else) about it. I KNEW, because I saw it.
