I used to believe that thunder was God moving his furniture; rain was God taking a shower; and lightning was God switching his lights on and off.
I used to believe that you could tell if a tornado was coming because the wind would blow really hard, but the trees wouldn't move. I was never concerned about a tornado coming because the trees were always swaying.
When I was 5 years old I used to believe that the clouds in the sky are fixed and the movement of the earth, cause that we feel they moved
When the oil stains on the roads are washed away by the rain, they look all very colourful, rainbow like. I used to believe, back in 1969, that they were the product of the rain washing the moon...
I used to believe that rainbows followed me around. Whenever I saw a rainbow in the sky, I would walk with it and "take it to my friend's house so she could see it"... I'd actually walk around talking to it and guiding it. LOL!
i used to believe that it was illegal for it to rain on Sundays ("Sun's" day). I couldn't quite figure out who would get arrested (possibly my minister at my church) but i knew that if i ever got rained on on a sunday that i would be a suspect.
I thought snow had diamonds in it because it sparkles when the sun hits it.
In the 70's there was lots of talk about the ice age on TV. Of course I assumed it was going to happen in my lifetime and was worried about it. I imagined we would all have to live in massive submarines in the water under the ice. I figured each submarine would be it's own country.
We were driving to Florida for Christmas, and I knew it was warm there. I thought there was an actual line where the snow stopped, and the sun and grass began. I was very disappointed to see that it got warmer gradually as we drove South.
When I was young I used to believe that the weather-man from tv talked to God and that's how he knew how the weather was going to be the next day.
When I was about 4, we lived in an area that was known for severe weather and even tornadoes. During the stormy season we would sleep in the kitchen, which was the center of our house and had no windows. Somehow I misunderstood and heard tormadoes and thought that a giant, vicious, huge tomato with enormous teeth dripping of green slime would come screaming at your house and rip it to shreds trying to find little girls to eat. I suppose I had a bit of an over active imagination... Now I know what tornadoes are (some reason not so scary) and like to tell the story to my nieces and nephews.
I used to think that rain was caused by the sun peeing on us.
I used to believe that the clouds tasted like cotton candy.. and it's all you can eat clouds..when you get to heaven..
I used to believe that the weather man on TV would make up whatever forecast he wants, then pray to god it came true.
When I was young, I said to my mom, "Mommy, make the sun go down!"
I used to believe that the rainbow is produced by the elves' pot of gold
When I was a kid I used to believe that the sun was chasing me .
Among many many things my parents led me to believe, the two that stick out most in my mind is that it only rained when I was bad (I always found myself trying to remember what I had done when it would start to rain). And the best one, you get canker sores in your mouth from telling a lie. I have managed to keep these "tales" in the family and passed them on to my children! HA!
I use to believe Smog and Fog were the same thing on smog was darker
In Venezuela, kids are told that when it rains but it's sunny at the same time, it is because God and the Devil are fighting
