When there is snow, it means God is having a pillowfight. Either that, or he turned the ice machine on "crushed." Also, when it is sunny, God left on the heat lamp. When it is raining, God left the shower on. When it is thunderous, God is either belching or moving furniture around. And when it is windy, God left the fan on. I was bitterly disappointed when I found out that clouds were made of nothing but trillions of tiny, tasteless water droplets.
On cloudy days me and my friends used to stand with our hands clasped together, pointed at the sky, to make the clouds part and the sun come out. But you had to really be thinking about the clouds parting and really wanting it to be sunny. We said we were sunbeams. And if someone was sulky and refused to help we said they were rain beams and would make the weather bad.

My father must have thought it halirious one day to tell me that the small amounts of oil on the road were "dead rainbows". I would always say a prayer in my mind for them when I saw them.
