When I was younger I used to think that a fire truck carried the water inside it. I was wondering why the water never ran out because the truck never looked that big.

I used to believe that houses walked about at night. When you were asleep your houses walked about and talked to other houses. This is why I thought they had to put nails in floorboards to stop them walking about. I still believe this and I'm now 42.

I used to wonder why signs on buildings said "Off Ice", because there was only ice sometimes during the winter. I thought they were mean for not taking the signs down.

When i was little(in the 70s/80s) the rag & bone man used to come around the streets on his cart shouting 'RAGS, BONES' I believed he was collecting corpses. Everytime i heard him outside i'd lock myself in the bathroom.

When I wanted to know if the mail had come or not my mom would tell me to see if the flag was still up or not. I can't tell you how many hours I spent looking for some secret flag on a flagpole

My father was a lawyer, so I knew what a law suit was. When I'd see real-esatate signs saying "Build to Suit" I thought this meant that they would build something for you until you got mad and sued them.

my mam always said be careful on "The main road" referring to a busy road near our house called Station Road. I thought this was the main road from which all other roads in the whole world began!

My parents told me there was only one Schwan delivery man, and he worked, like Santa Claus, to deliver treats to people all over the world.

There's a noon siren in my town, and it sounds almost identical to an air raid siren that they used in England during WW11. When I was little ( around five years old), I watched a movie set back then, and my brother told me that the siren meant people were going to bomb the town. For the longest time, everyday at noon I ran inside, so I wouldn't get hit by a bomb. It didn't occur to me that IU had been outside many times at noon, and was never hit by a bomb.

Slightly dumb.

When I wad younger, there was a saying "If you step on a crack you'll break your mother's back". I really did belive that thos was true, I use to imagine this happening. So for a very long time, I wouldn't step on any crack in the sidewalk.

While walking down the streets of Chicago, my mom always made sure we avoided the grates. I asked her why and she said that I would fall in if I walked on top of them. It was really because she didn't want to get her high heels stuck. I still avoid them for some reason.

I thought there was a guy wearing a white lab coat in a shiny underground lab at the center of every city controlling all of the street lights. When my mom told me they were controlled by plates in the ground, I didn't believe her, because nothing (not even a car) could be heavy enough to affect something under asphalt.

I used to think that all paved roads went all the way through to the other side of the earth, so that somewhere in china there was an exact copy of our streets.

When I was younger, my family and I were visiting my Great-Grand Parents in Bonavista. One day as my family were walking I was looking down a manhole. My dad said if I looked close enough I would see the Ninja Turtles. I looked there all the time. And out side of the one by the Hospital too.
Sometimes I Still look down a manhole. Hoping too see a Ninja Turtle.

I used to believe that pebble-dashed houses were pebble-dashed because the world used to be all sea, and when the sea came down it left all the sand and pebbles stuck to the side of the houses. Until I was about twelve.
