I used to believe the ONLY water people had for a city was in the tower and soon as they drank it all gone, then a big tank or something would have to go fill the tower again or the people would NEVER get water again.

I was a really morbid child because till I was about 6 or so I refused to drink tap water unless I was forced to because I thought they kept all the dead bodies in the water tower to mummifiy them. One too many horror films....

I thought water towers were the HUGE parents of spiders. ALL spiders, (which gave me the creeps) hatched from those towers.

One time when I was little, me my brother and mother drived pass a water tower. My brother said something along the lines of "Wow, they can probably sqeeze a ton of water out of there". I still don't know why he said that, but I picture a bunch of people standing under it, squeezing it like they were milking a cow.

I used to believe people worked in the water tower, purifying the water and everything(that's why they had the stairs). I thought it would be a disgusting job, since pee would come in there too.

When I was small, everytime I saw a water tower, I thought the Animaniacs would pop out (because in the cartoon, they lived in a water tower)!

When I was young, my brothers told me that water towers were aliens from outer space and that they were watching me. I was so scared of those things when my step-dad drove by.. thinking they were out to get me. Even when I had to walk nearby them too!

Once when I was little I lost a balloon when we opened the car door and it flew out. There was this water tower sitting on top of a hill far away in my town, and I was convinced for a long time that the water tower was my balloon.

when I was, mayber 4 or 5, I pointed my local water tower out to my grandad + asked what it was. He told me 'it's full of water' + showed me the pies underneath where the water goes up + down, + I noticed a ladder there, too. I assumed that it must be a swimming pool, + the pipes were water slides.
I once tried to ask my Mother if we could go swimming there, but she didn't have a clue where I meant. It always seemed to be closed, anyway.

In order to keep us in line, my Mother used to tell us that those big water towers were prisons for small children. I would always hide in the back seat when we passed them on roadtrips.

When I was about ages 4-7 or 8, I believed that on long car trips, when we saw watertowers, that they were following us. I would see them and think immediatley that we were being persued and were going to be eaten.
