My mom said her last name used to be carter until she married my dad, and it caused me to believe when two people got married they got to make up a new last name together by combining their old last names.

I used to believe that God's name was Howard. It wasn't until I was in Junior High that I realized that the prayer was "Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name" and not "Our Father who art in Heaven, Howard be thy name"

When I was little we had our house remodeled - and the remodelers had the last name 'Oakley'. and my dad told us the Oakley's were coming over - but I thought he said "Okreys' - which is how southerners pronounce the vegetable 'Okra'. So I waited in anticipation for these 5-6 foot tall Okra pods in painter caps carrying tool boxes to come marching up the drive. If you think of those animated brooms carrying buckets of water in 'Fantasia's 'Sorcerers Apprentice' you get it.

My older brother used to be really obsessed with dinosaurs, bursting out the scientific names at a young age. When I was 3 or 4 he would call me 'Meredithipithicus'; as in a made-up dinosaur. But because I so often was called this I actually thought it was my name! I went to a store and some lady asked me what my name was. I told her very seriously that my name was 'Meredithipithicus'

When I was younger I got a lot of things mixed up. For example, I walways got confused with Al Gore and Bill Clinton, in terms of who was who. I also got mixed up with Chicago and Detroit.

I thought that Penelope was pronounced Pen-el-ope. I also thought Bob was short for Bobert. (Because Rob was short for Robert! Very logical, huh?)

For a time I kinda thought my great grandpa was John Lennon. (His name was John.) I don't know why I thought this. It would be really cool if I was related to John Lennon because he is my idol!!!!!!!

When I was 5, my Aunty that I didn't know too well came back from a trip to Japan. She bought me a geisha doll, and my mum told me "This is from Japan".
From the day for about two years, I called her Aunty Japan.

I used to think all guys we're called "Bill". So instead of saying "Who is that man?" I would say "Who is that Bill?" My mom said that happened because at that time the only men I really was around like my grandfather, uncle and cousin were all named Bill.

When I was little I believed that a person had two names, one when they were a "child" and one when they are a "adult"
For example, I asked my mom one day( her name is viki) what her name was when she was a kid and she laughed at me.

I was around 4.

When I was little, my dad had a friend named Theresa. He always talked about her and about what a good-hearted person she was. Thing is, she lived in another state so I never met her. I only heard my dad talking about how kind and caring she was. So I concluded that she was in fact Mother Theresa.
