When I was really little I used to believe that everyone in the world had a different name. We had a family friend name Ben. One day I was at the grocery store with my mom and the name of the person at the checkout counter was also Ben. My mom told me this, and I burst into tears, crying "There not be TWO Bens!!" (The poor grocer was wondering what was so upsetting about his name.)
That was when I learned the truth.
When I was three, I believed only one person in the world could have each name. Anytime anyone with the same name as me introduced themselves, I would scream "NO FAIR! NO FAIR! YOU STOLE MY NAME!"

There was a boy at my elementary school named Ashley. I always thought he was a girl, as he was slender with large blue eyes and short blonde curls. Until he moved away in fourth grade I thought he was a she and he was always invited to my slumber parties, and would come. It wasn't until fifth grade that my best friend Carly pointed out that Ashley was a boy.
I hope I didn't make him gay with those makeovers...
PLEASE don't name your sons Ashley, no matter how much you love the movie Gone with the Wind!!
My sister and I both have Lynn as a middle name, so one day my brother asked if that meant his middle name was Lynn too.
When I was little, our paperboy would come every morning. His name was Brad.My mom would always say, "Hi, Brad!" whenever he came in. I confused Brad with bread for some reason and i sometimes couldn't remember what the difference between bread and toast was, so one day he came to our door and I yelled, "Hi, Toast!" really loud so he heard.
He's never really liked me since.
I used to have really long hair, so when I finally decided to get in cut in 3rd grade, I was told that the girl that would cut my hair's name was Cindy. My mother had a horse named Cindy, and I pictured the horse in a cape behind me cutting my hair.
I used to believed that "R.I.P" on a gravestone meant that that person's name was Rip.
For a time I kinda thought my great grandpa was John Lennon. (His name was John.) I don't know why I thought this. It would be really cool if I was related to John Lennon because he is my idol!!!!!!!
When the deck in my backyard was being built, the name of the man who built it was Robert. This is also my middle name, so I assumed someone's middle name was always the name of the person who built their deck. It hadn't occurred to me that the rest of my family have different middle names, or that I was given my name (including my middle name) before the deck was built.
I used to believe that i was the only person with the name Freddy, and when i met another boy named Freddy, i got upset because i thought he stole my name!

I decided when I was in Kindergarden that my name would no longer be Molly, it would now be Dora. I made everyone call me Dora, and much to the frustration to my Kindergarden teacher, I didn't stop for several months.
