I lived in an old 3 storey house. I used to believe there was a strong chance that, when I climbed the stairs in the dark, the devil would be there waiting at the top. I would force myself to do this at night.
We also had a bathroom door with 3 froasted glass panels. Facing the mirror over the sink you could see the reflection of the door. I would force myself to look at the reflection to see if there was 2 red eyes looking in at me. There never was!
As you may have guessed I had a good catholic upbringing.
I used to believe that God was called Peter. People used to say 'Thanks be to God' but what I heard was 'Thanks Peter God'
I use to get confussed because we were told jesus was born at christmas and died at easter, i assumed king herald finally found him.
How he managed to do all that stuff in the bible when he was only a baby was rather clever!
I always thought God looked kind of like this really stern man with dark hair. One day I saw a similar looking guy in my CCD (Catholic Sunday School) book next to a question saying to circle the one who was God (they had the guy up in the clouds with the flowing white beard, but I didn't think THAT was him) and I got it wrong.
Another thing: I was about two when I asked my nana where babies came from, and she told me they came from God. Until I actually asked my mother a few years later, I thought babies just kind of dropped out of the sky in little bassinettes and landed on your doorstep. I think I asked my mum why the babies didn't get hurt when they fell out of the sky and that was when she got me the "So That's How I Was Born" book.
i used to believe if you did something like hit a desk on the right side three times, you would have to hit the left side three times or God would punish you. I still feel comfortable doing things evenly like that.
I used to think if i cut myself on purpose God would reward me for my bravery.
I always used to think that god looked like Abe Lincon, like the Lincon Memorial... It just looked so important...
between my mothers latin american easter story and my fathers american version i got very confused. i had this strange idea that a massive baby jesus delivered easter baskets. i just recently figured out how i came up with this theory.
my mum once told me that god was with you even on the toilet. i believed this (my brother too) for a couple of years wen a mums friend corrected me. wat my mum meant to say is that god is everywhere.
in our old house there was a picture of the sacred heart hanging up in the kitchen. when i was young i used to think it was a picture of The Greatest American Hero!
HE HAD A CAPE!!!!..... i was only about 4 or 5 :-(
When I was a kid when it was cloudy you could sometimes see sun rays shooting out of the clouds. I thought God was standing on that cloud cuse thats what it looked like in the pictures in the bible.

I used to believe that the Holy Ghost was a little green version of Cousin It that lived in the boiler room at the church building. He didn't even speak English, he spoke it-ese or something.
I thought that the star that Mary and Joseph followed was called Yonder, as in 'following Yonder star."
This is somewhat embarrassing when I look back on it. When I was about eight years old, my grandma would always buy those newspapers with headlines such as 'Elvis has Alien Child'. As a child, I was fascinated with these type of stories. I happened to read a story saying that scientists had proof the world was going to end on September 1, 1994. One day I wrote in the fog on my bedroom window "God Please Don't Let The World End". Imagine how I felt when September 1st came, I was scared to death!

When I was six, the Sunday School teacher went around our class asking each of us what we knew about Jesus. When my turn came, I said that He really liked animals. The teacher asked me how I knew that, and I replied, "Because he healed the leopards." It must have taken a lot of effort for her to keep a straight face while she explained what a leper was.
At school our class of six year-olds were all told to draw a picture of the Nativity to put up on the walls for Christmas. I drew the stable with a lovely light bulb and shade hanging from the ceiling. No one could explain to my satisfaction why there could not be a light bulb hanging over the manger for baby Jesus in case he was scared of the dark. How else would the wise men see where to put the gifts? It went up on the wall and I rode out the ridicule, certain that I was right.
When I was younger, whenever my parents got upset they'd exclaim, "Jesus, Mary and Joseph!" However, I thought they were saying, "Jesus is marrying Joseph!"
I've since converted to Paganism.

When I was little I used to think that God looked like Ronald McDonald and that he lived in the vent in the ceiling of our downstairs bathroom. I used to go in there and look up to the vent and pray. Go figure.
When I was young I always had this one idea of what good looked like in my head, to this day I can still picture it. It wasn't until a year ago when I realized that the picture look exactly like Hagrid from the Harry Potter movies!!!
my friends sister used to think god was a bee
