When I found out that Hell was all fire and heat, I pictured the devil being a microwave with the buttons and arms coming out of his sides and everything. It wasn't until later I saw the horned figure of him.

When I was about 6 years old I went to church for the first time and someone there told me that God was everything. I then pictured God to be a giant pile of household appliances and furniture, mostly consisting of washing machines and couches.

When I was about 4 I thought "God" must be those little purple blitty spots that you saw when you pressed your eyelids shut with your fingers, or stared at the sun for a long time. Why did I think this? Who knows...the blitty spots had no name I knew of, and "God" was something completely beyond my understanding.

When I was about 4 or 5, I was in Sunday School and the teacher was telling us a watered-down version of the crucifixion of Jesus. She was said that a rabbi hated Jesus and had him killed (by nailing him to a cross, etc). However, being only 4, I thought she said "rabbit" instead of "rabbi," and the first rabbit that I pictured was the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland, so for a couple years after that, I thought that rabbits had a personal vendetta against Jesus and that the white rabbit was evil and killed him.

I used to believe, if a colored a picture for god and I tried real hard to hand it to Him, he would reach out and take it! I was really little, before kindergarten!

I used to think that since God was in charge and watching us all, at all times. That he moved us around like dolls in a doll house, that was my visualization till about 8yrs of age.
Also thought that you couldn't laugh, smile or clap in church.

I always thought that Jesus must really be special because he grew to be a man in only 5 months (Christmas to Easter)

When I was little, my mom told me the story about "Daniel and the Lion's Pit."
Daniel was thrown into a pit of lions because of the way he worshiped, but Jehovah God came and shut the mouth of the lions and he was saved. Well, I did not know what a "lion's pit" was, so I substituted the next best thing I knew -- Lion Spit. I thought the danger was that he would drown in all that spit. But when their mouths were shut, they would stop drooling and it would be ok. I think my mom actually slurred the words a little after she heard me retelling the story, just to keep the illusion alive.
The same sort of logic led me to believe the Israelites ate WHALES in the desert. They were complaining about the lack of meat and so a stiff breeze blew from the sea, and all these whales landed in the area where they were. I did wonder if anyone was crushed by the falling whales... As it turns out, they were Quails (small birds -- avg 18cm long). I sure learned a LOT after I learned how to read for myself!

When I was much younger, my vision of Allah, or God, was like the scarecrow from The Wizard of Oz. I still can't help but imagine that when I die, I'm going to be in the cornfield of the sky.

I used to think that God was this little midget like thing that lived inside your stomach and told you what to do. I refered to him as my little friend and i swear he used to tell me to color and play on the swings.
