I remember when I was four and in Sunday School class, we learned that 'Jesus is love'. I made a connection between that concept and my favorite television show at the time (the Care Bears). I figured that since all the Care Bears loved and cared about everyone that much that they had to be helpers for Jesus when he got too busy. That same year, when we went on a plane down to visit my grandparents, I was on the look out for Care-a-lot and Heaven. I figured that they were all in the clouds somewhere, and that I'd either be able to wave to Jesus or to my favorite colorful bears. Too this day, everytime I look at my Care Bears, I have to smile because Jesus loves me.

When I was little I asked our pastor if God was everywhere. He said Yes. Then I asked if that meant that God was in my stomach. He said well, yes, that too. I went around for a while very worried about digesting God and hoping he liked whatever food I had for dinner.
Growing up Jewish in the United States I was confused about many details of Christianity and I guess noone ever thought to teach me. For many years I thought that Santa Claus was Jesus as an old man. Well... they both had beards, just check out those claymation holiday specials.
I thought the singer Madonna and the "Madonna" figure were the same person, and that since Madonna came back, she would give birth to the new Jesus. I also thought the phrase "prima donna" was "Pre-Madonna" and meant before having Jesus, so I thought the tv was wrong calling the singer Madonna instead of Pre-Madonna since she had no kids yet.
I once argued with my sunday school teacher, a Southern Baptist, that Jesus and God and everyone in the Bible we're not people, they were monkeys, after seeing a documentary on evolution on the Discovery channel. My Grandmother tried to explain to be that Jesus was AFTER evolution, but I would only agree that they were monkeys BC, then became people in AD. Discovery channel used BC at the end of those dates.
When I was younger, I attended a Christian school. Not understanding what the teachers and pastor meant when they said that we had to let Jesus into our hearts, I thought that we literally had a little door, leading to a little room in our anatomical hearts. I just figured that since Santa Claus can shrink himself to fit down the chimney, Jesus could shrink down to fit into my beating heart. I just remember feeling like I was carrying around that bearded figure dressed in robes and sandals in my heart like he was in my pocket.
I used to believe that God looked like David Cassidy.
Since I’m getting next to nothing done today, what with party planning and poop jokes and all;
I used to believe that the Angel of the Lord’s name was “Lo” because Linus said something about “And Lo, the Angel of the Lord came down from heaven….” in A Charlie Brown Christmas.
My little sister and I used to share a bedroom when we were small. We
believed that our "guardian angels" were always standing beside our beds
at night. It then occured to us that they might get tired so for the next while
we only slept on half of the bed in case they wanted to go to sleep too!

I used to believe that God was the Incredible Hulk - he was green and muscly and had purple trousers.
I thought God looked like a cartoon baby with a magic wand he would use to perform his "tricks." I can still see that image. I also thought I didn't want to stay *anywhere* for eternity, including heaven. It would be so boring!

When very little I completely believed the mascot for Lucky Charms was the Almighty God.
My friend used to believe that Adam and Eve were buried under her church's library! She was so scared of it afterwards, even when another friend told her that it was a big April Fool's joke.
I used to believe After reading the book of revelations at the age of 7: that the bride of Christ was an actually women. I thought, what a lucky lady to be marrying Jesus.

My parents were very religious and when I was young would travel all over Texas to religious conventions. One year at a convention there was a reenactment of Jesus' baptism and crucifixion. I was horrified that no one was helping Jesus, and even more horrified when I surmised that WE were the evil Romans who were killing Jesus. I cried but never said anything to anyone because there was so many people there I thought they would kill me too. Years later I realized it was just a play when I learned that Jerusalem was nowhere near San Antonio..
When I was little, I used to believe that Jesus died every year for 3 days from Good Friday until Easter. I was always scared for those 3 days being without Jesus, but always felt better on Easter, because then I knew he would rise again.

The two people in the Garden Of Eden were named "Adamandeve" and "Eve"

Around age 6 my friend and I firmly believed that G-d would supply anything on demand, if only you knew how to ask. One evening playing in the snow, we wanted to ascertain whether a pile of snow contained a core of ice or not. We drove a large wooden stick down thru it but couldn't tell if it hit ice or the ground first. Since it was too dark to see, we asked G-d for a flashlight. When none arrived, we figured we had asked Him incorrectly and promptly corrected our mistake by adding "Dear G-d" and "amen". When the needed flashlight still failed to fall from the sky, we agreed that He must have been too busy.
