This old Polish lady used to babysit me. One day I was at the kitchen table eating Spaghetti-O's and swinging my legs back and forth and she said in this really eerie voice, 'When you do that, you're swinging the devil. And the angel on your shoulder is crying.'

I'm 35 now and am still scared to swing my legs.

I used to believe that when it rained, it ,meant that god was sad and he was crying and when it was sunny it meant that god was happy!

Up until I was about 10, I had this strange image of God. He was about 60, wearing a white robe with a rope belt, and had a cane; but the strange part was he looked exactly like Mr. Rogers.

When I was little I used to go to church, after listening them going on about the devil one day I begna to wonder where he was. I imagained that he was in some foreign country somewhere (!) I asked my Dad and he said he didn't know, and that he could be anywhere! This freaked my out I was only little, I made me a bit paranoid, I thought I was going to bump into a demon with a forked tail in the street.
Perhaps this has something to do with me not being a christian anymore...?

i used to believe that part of Christ's greatness was the fact that he managed to accomplish so much all in the space of 4 months - between when he was born on Christmas and Easter, when he died.

I believed that Jesus was still walking around the earth, visiting people. So, I asked my mother how old she was when the baby Jesus was born.

I remember once having a conversation with some friends of mine when I was about six, when we were trying to deicide how long ago Jesus was born. Eventaully we concluded it must have been about 50 years ago.

When I was very small I believed that there were only 2 angels in Heaven. A girl angel named Gloria, who's name was on her banner above our nativity, and a boy angel named Harold, who sang.

I used to believe that the only thing that differentiated Jesus from God is that Jesus had brown hair and a beard and God had black hair in a beard. I also belived that John the Baptist probably looked a lot like my Uncle Steve.

When I was 4 or 5 my parents got me some kind of tape about The Prodigal Son. I was terrified of watching it because I thought it was the "The Prong Son" and was about a kid with a sharp prong who killed everyone. I'm 10 and I still don't want to watch it.

"RUN! IT'S THE PRONG SON!"

When my cousin was about 4 years old, he thought that if you dug down deep enough, you could reach the devil. We were all under the impression that we could kill the devil with a water hose because he was made of fire. So he started digging with his little shovel, and had the water hose ready for when he reached him.

When I was about 5 years old I believed that all of the smoke from all of the fires, chemical plants, cigarettes, etc. of the world drifted up into the sky and "became Jesus". I thought that he was like a huge cloud that floated around and just got bigger and bigger.

I used to think that Joseph, Mary's husband, was God. He played the father role in Jesus' life and when I would hear that God was Jesus' father I just assumed they meant Joseph. I remember hearing in church that no one knew what God looked like, and I came across a picture of the Holy Family and wondered if anyone realized there was a picture of God!
