My cousin and I thought if we dug a hole deep enough in the ground we would reach the devil and then we could kill him. We would be digging the hole thinking of all the great rewards we would get for killing the devil.

I remember when I was four and in Sunday School class, we learned that 'Jesus is love'. I made a connection between that concept and my favorite television show at the time (the Care Bears). I figured that since all the Care Bears loved and cared about everyone that much that they had to be helpers for Jesus when he got too busy. That same year, when we went on a plane down to visit my grandparents, I was on the look out for Care-a-lot and Heaven. I figured that they were all in the clouds somewhere, and that I'd either be able to wave to Jesus or to my favorite colorful bears. Too this day, everytime I look at my Care Bears, I have to smile because Jesus loves me.

When I was at Sunday School at age about five, I thought that when 'such-and-such' "BEGAT" 'so-and-so', they were hitting them with a big stick or similar. The truth 'begat' me much later.....

When I was about eight I read a book about mysteries which detailed how people got possessed by Satan. I then believed that because I'd read it I was an ideal candidate for possession. What kind of child thinks that?

One of my younger brothers thought that if you said the word *devil* you would go straight to hell, so of course me being a contradictory kind of big sister, and for the sheer pleasure of annoying him, I would say devil repeatedly in his face till he would start to cry. Funnily enough he never said anything about the word *demon*, maybe because the Demons were his favourite aussie rules footy team...?

When I was young I always had this one idea of what good looked like in my head, to this day I can still picture it. It wasn't until a year ago when I realized that the picture look exactly like Hagrid from the Harry Potter movies!!!

I used to think that when I went to church and everyone said "Thanks be to god." that everyone was saying "Thanks, Beeta God." I thought that "Beeta God" was the priest, who was pretending to be God, and was crazy, so everyone was just humoring him.

i used to think that god or someone was sending me secret messages through the trees. the way it worked was i'd look at various trees' branches and find "letters" hidden in the tangle of branches and leaves that would spell out a message. sometimes the messages were just regular greetings, or comments about things i had done, but sometimes they predicted stuff that would happen in the future. once i got really scared when i thought i saw "beth will die," because she was my babysitter & she was awesome. but beth was ok....

when i was a kid, i believed jehova witnesses were evil, because i thought that 'jehova' meant 'satan'. i was always really scared when they came to the door because they reminded me of the old man from Poltergeist.

When I was 5-ish, whenever my parents mentioned "God" for some reason, in my mind, I always pictured God as the Statue of Liberty.

We would often visit my grandparents in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (home of Bethlehem Steel) at Christmas time. One year, while we were en route, I asked my mom, "Can we visit the stable where Jesus was born this year?" When she explained that Bethlehem was not *the* Bethlehem, my mind was totally blown.

In addition, there are many Moravians in that area of the and Moravians have a beautiful traditional Christmas decoration. It's a large illuminated multi-point star that hangs from porches or windows. My grandparents had one. I assumed that their star was, in fact, the Star of Bethlehem.

i used to believe that god was a little black kid who carried a banana leaf around over his head. i think it's cause i read this kids book with this character in it and for some reason associated him with god. i still think its a friendlier image than a towering old man with a white beard.

When I was younger, I believed that god could hear everything I say. Like, I would walk around saying: "How are you? Good? I'm so bored." And I'd actually start conversation thinking I was the only person in the world who could communicate with god, and with spirits. So I'd go around telling everyone that I was psychic, and that I went to psychic school. And I thought I could communicate with the non-living spirits by tearing up a leaf into 4 equal parts, and then blowing them into the wind. Man, was I ever dumb back then!

The first time I heard of Jesus, it was at Christmas. I saw imagery of Jesus as a baby and kept hearing about the "Baby Jesus", so I obviously thought of Jesus being a baby.

When I first heard of Easter, I thought Jesus also died as a baby!
