When we explained to our son that he would be starting school soon, he asked how long he had to stay there. We explained he would go to school until he was about 16. He started to cry - he didn't realise he would come home every afternoon- he thought he had to stay at the school until he was 16
when i was in about 4th grade, i was certain that three of the guys from my class were living outside my window every nite. i was always really afraid that they were watching me, so i had to change in the closet, and put a sheet over my window
The lady who babysat me as a kid had three older kids of her own. I remember her once asking her daughter what she had learned in school that day. The daughter replied, "I learned that X equals 7!" I became convinced then, that all letters corresponded with numbers and this was something you had to memorize when you were in the higher grades. I spent the rest of the day wondering what number "A" was.
Funny thing is, I told my husband about this and he had a very similar experience after asking someone what "Algebra" was!
me & my mate were about 14 or 15 and had to take the class register back to the staffroom. as we were sauntering along the corridoor my mate turned to me and said imagine if the register was blue instead of red, everyone would call it a blue chester. yes it took some time to explain is was a reg ister and not a redchester

When I was in the first grade my teacher was teaching the class about our personal space. She asked us where a place that people shouldn't touch us is. I replied that people shouldn't stick their fingers in other people's nose.

When I was little, my older siblings went to mixers. Mixers were when all the Catholic grade schools went into a gym and "mixed". I never asked what mixers were because I didn't want to be stupid.
So, up until I actually went to one, I believed mixers were evening cooking classes.

When i was in pre-school, about to go into grade school I was preparing myself for all the changes i might face. My biggest fear was that while in pre-school the teacher had you raise your hand, in grade school they might make you raise your foot. I practiced for the remander of preschool
when i was like 4 or 5, i used to believe that one day at my preschool we would have nakie day. (where everyone went to school nakie!!!)
I had an odd notion that Kindergarten was a school underneath a garden, and they made you eat veggies and drink tomato juice. I was frightened at the thought of going to a school like that...

When I was young, everybody talked about how I was going to kindergarten. I imagined that they were going to take me to this farm place, with a big scarecrow and vegetables. So one day I asked my dad what the kinder garden grew.
My Elementary School was a part of a University, so we always had student teachers, and there were mirrors near the cealing that people could see through, and could quietly observe. We called them the magic mirrors.
Whenever I wanted to do something bad, I couldn't, cause I was afraid that the monsters who sit behind the magic mirrors would eat me for being bad. I also thought that Santa used the magic mirrors.
my friend used to belief people who bought lunch were poor. she thought this because the people who bought lunch were all from apartments. (turned out, they were GOOD apartments, and it makes mroe sense to bring lunch if you're poor)
When I finished kindergarten and it was summertime, I thought I would never go back to school again and it was over forever.
When i was in elementary school, i used to bring in dental floss on foggy days... noone knows why... still

Until recently, my friend did not know what CCD was. When I told her I had attended CCD classes, she laughed and said, "You're such a retard!" I asked her why, and she replied, "Well, CCD is for dumb kids, right?"
