I used to believe while I was growing up in Elementary school that "make up" exams were where we had to put on make up I was starting to fear that grade....

when I was in pre-shcool I thought that when I went to kindergarden my classmates and my teachers would all be giant bunny rabbites and that we would be outside all day growing carrots (I took the garden part a little too seriously) and i was sooo scared because all the bunnies already knew how to grow carrots and i didn't ( my grandma was very confused when i begged her to "teach me carrots" in a panic, just before the shcool year started

When I was ten or eleven our teacher took my class to the library and the librarian explaind how to write a bibliography. Then she gave us books to work on. I thought we were taking these notes because the librarian needed them for her catalogue, and I couldn't understand why our teacher kept sending us back to do it over and over again. Of course, on my essays I would just write the name of the author and the book title at the end.

I remember an exercise in class where we had to measure the length of our foot with a 1-foot-ruler. I was absolutely confused as to why we needed to, since a foot must be a foot long!

PS - By the time I was older I was actually quite gifted at mathematics - true.

At around nursery school age, I woke one day to find it raining. I declaired to my mum that I'm wasn't going to school today. When questioned why, I came out with " they don't need you when it's raining"

Oh if that was true!

I used to believe that Kindergarten was a place where kids went and played in the garden and ate garden food and played with the bugs and bunnies that were in the garden. LOL!!

My sister used to be scared to death of a day care center when she was little. She begged and begged my parents not to make her go there (though they never were going to).

It was on Elm street.

When I was in grade school, I was convinced that a "Catholic" school (where I was) was really a special place for children with very low IQ's. The teachers and parents were all in on the big secret so that we wouldn't feel bad about ourselves.

When I started kindergarten our teacher told us that they were going to have a fire drill in the room next to ours and that we would soon have a fire drill too. I believed that that they must be doing some kind of work on the walls using a drill that spit out fire so they all had to get out of the room when they used it. I wondered how it worked.

When I was little I believed you went to the grade of your age. For example at 6 yrs old = sixth grade and so on. So by the time you were 12 I was finished with school.

One time at school, I was going to be in a Christmas event called, "It's a small world after all." The teacher had all the students come from different countries. I thought that if the teacher made you be a certain nationality, that you would be from that country. My teacher had me be from Norway. I cried and cried because of this, since I am pure Irish.

I got in a lot of trouble when I was at school. One day when I was 9 my best friends told me there was a gilloteen on the roof of the school and they were going to chop my head off for being naughty!! I beleived this and went and hid in the bushes and didn't come out untill the grounds keeper found me. I carried on beleiving this for about a year, I'm 14 now and my friends have still not let me live it down!

When my sister who is 2yrs older than me started school at the at the age of 6 she would come home with stories of going into the hall for morning prayers, maybe it was an accent thing (we live in newcastle) but i was convinced she and all the school stood round a huge hole in the middle of the school and prayed not to fall in.
