When I was a kid I couldn't figure out how video got to a TV through a tiny little cable, and with so many channels! I figured that a huge set of tiny images must be transferred through the cable using fibre optics or something (like a multiplexed image), and then the TV would pick a section of this big image when you choose a channel, then magnify that section onto the TV screen and voila - TV! I figured the sound was picked up using some sort of radio tuner. I was tempted to cut the cable and see if a bunch of tiny images would project from it! I understand how they work today, but you gotta admit, it's pretty amazing how color video goes through a simple 2-pin cable.
I had a terrible time remembering the name for mechanical pencils. I always called them electrical pencils.
I thought the RCA dog was in all microphones....Yeah..weird huh... One time at church I asked my dad how microphones worked and he said there was a little dog in there that moved up and down and it made noises louder. I instantly pictured the dog on RCA records sitting buy that big horn looking phonograph thing and thought he was in all microphones. I found out years later that my dad (from the old'n days) used the word dog to decribe many little parts he didnt understand or know better how to describe...
I used to believe that the name of the Commodore 64 home computer was Commandore 64.
when i was 8 or 9 years old i used to think that the tape rolls in cassettes were curtains in front of a mini stage and that when you plugged the power chord into the wall and played the tape the singer or group would travel throught the wire, hide behind the tape rolls( curtains) and play their music. To satisfy my curiosity i once smashed open a cassette to find these mini performers but ended up with boring pile of magnetic tape.
When my sister and I found out that we could write emails to Mary-Kate and Ashley, I was so excited and I thought that they would be our best friends! I really thought they would come have playdates with me... nevermind the fact that I was 7 and they were 12 or 13.
For the longest time when I was little, I was scared to ride in any elevators. I would either hold on to the railing or onto my mother very tightly and close my eyes. I used to believe that when it started going up or down, any small child would be hurled in the opposite direction and stuck there until it stopped, thus causing them to be hurt badly. This more so in hospital elevators so they could have patients to work on.
This goes for my friend
He thought when online ordering first came out. The item would just pop out of the computer screen!
I used to think that anything you did in front of the computer was able to be seen by others. I always refrained from saying stuff that I wouldn't say in public in front of the computer for fear than others could hear me!
I used to believe, as ridiculous as this sounds, that the world literally used to be in black and white (from old photos and old TV shows) and it magically turned into color (much like the wizard of oz).
It took me until I was about six or seven to realize that the film/photography technology was just not as advanced back in the day...
Up until was 11 I used to think that in order to get an email address you had to phone up an email address office and they would give you a random address and password
When you go up in an elevator, the elevator surpasses your destination floor and then goes back down to that floor.

My dad works at the electric power station as an engineer. Whenever there was a power outage I would ask and quarrel with him why he cut off the electricity while I was home.
Just now I was watching "How it's Made" on the Discovery Channel while browsing the internet at the same time, and I wasn't really paying attention when they said the item they were making, then I took a break and started watching again, and they had these little pins, and they were talking about elephants. I thought they were making little carvings of elephants on the top of pins (I read about it in a book once), but then they started putting the pins in a circuit board. I got confused, but then I listened more closely and I heard they said ELEMENTS.
I used to belive that computers could come alive and kill us. (when I was 5)
Ibelieved only computers could think.((i started at a too early age my mom says))
i used to belive that computers were really smart people that we buy
You know how your voice sounds much different on a tape recorder? I used to believe that if I recorded my voice onto a tape, listened to the recording and mimicked the sound, when I recorded that it would end up sounding like I thought I sounded all the time.
I used to believe people lived in video cameras.
if someone took a photo of you, you were trapped forever in the photo, never to return.
