When I was six I checked a book about the human body out from the library. The last chapter was on reproduction. It explained the process, but left out any concept of volition. I spent some time believing that procreation happened whenever a penis neared a vagina. I was particularly worried that it happened at night, unbeknownst to my sleeping parents, while they were lying in bed next to each other.

When I was about 8, I was talking with my friends, and I actually believed this until I was about 12. Basically in order to get a woman pregnant, you would have to urinate inside of them. I thought this was horribly disgusting, and had no idea why someone would want to do this.

Somehow I knew that in order to get pregnant something from the man had to get inside the woman - and I knew that they had to sleep in the same bed for it to happen.

So for the longest time I thought while the man and the woman were sleeping, whatever it was would crawl out of the man and walk across the sheets and into the woman and make her pregnant.

The thing I worried about was how did it know which way to go in the dark on the sheets and what if it crawled into the wrong person or simply got lost? Did it die? Did it hang around and wait for the next person to get in bed?

I used to believe it took two hours to make a baby, and if the couple wanted twins they should have sex for four hours, triplets? Six hours! And so on...

When I was a kid, I thought that woman get pregnant simply by looking at their husband. And finally after the birth the child will look like mum or dad (or a mixture) cause mum looked into the mirror and in dad's face too and the characteristics of both faces are somehow transferred "via mother's eyes" into the genes of the child...

When i was little i used to believe that you could make babies by putting a seed on the other persons belly button and then lying on top of them. Me and my sister used to try it all the time, until we were told the REAL story of reproduction.

I used to think that if a boy touched a girl, she would get pregnant. When I was 7, a boy had brushed up against me, and I was so worried that I was pregnant that I started crying to my older cousin, who then told me that wasn't how babies were made.

When I was about 5 years old,as I a joke I asked my mom how baby's were made (seeing kids ask it all the time on t.v.) Well my mom, being a nurse, went in to full detail.Needless to say,I wanted the stork to bring my brother home and hope to god that my mom was lying.

When I was eight years old, I was under the impression that women became pregnant in much the same way as they caught a cold, by falling victim to an errant germ. I got that impression from a REDBOOK article in which one woman's difficulties in conceiving were detailed. I used to read everything in the world when I was a six-year-old kid - REDBOOK, ESQUIRE, THE COMPLETE EDGAR ALLEN POE, everything.

After that, I overheard my parents discussing, in hushed terms, a local unmarried woman who had become pregnant. Thinking it odd that they would consider this woman different from other prospective mothers, I said "Why does a woman need to be married to have a baby? I read an article about an unmarried woman having a baby".

My mom said, "That was a very bad woman". Both mom and dad refused to explain further.

I was 14 and sat on my boyfriends lap, I kissed him and my mom saw us. She took me aside and told me.. "That's how girls end up pregnant!" For years I NEVER sat on a guys lap, and spent many hours wondering how many kids got pregnant after sitting on Santa's lap.

When i was 7 i knew about sex (well, the male's part) thanx to my big brother. Another thing i believed was that if you swallowed any you-know-what a baby would grow in your throat!

Back in my days of innocence, I used to believe that a man had to pee inside a woman for her to get pregnant. 16 now and still think of that...good thing I never tried it on with anyone as a young age...could have been a bit of a messy job.

I remember when i was little...when those commercials would come on for like headache medicine and stuff...when it says "do not use if you are or may become pregnant" and i used to tell my parents that they were being stupid for saying that becuase anyone could become pregnant so no one would want to take the medicine...i used to beleive that anyone (even guys) could just get pregant out of no where
