I used to believe that every time a couple had sex, the woman got pregnant. One day my mom was talking to her friend about another woman who was pregnant. She asked if it was planned, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how it could NOT be planned. I mean, wouldn't you realize you were having sex?

When I was young I recall knowing that you had to insert your penis into a woman's vagina to get pregnant. The part I had wrong was that I thought you had to urinate inside her to make a baby!!

I always used to wonder why women said they were "trying" to get pregnent. I thought that babies just appeared in the women's stomach (I didn't understand the concept of a womb either)if she hoped hard enough, and the women only knew when their bellies began getting big. I believed this even after I learned about sex!

I used to think people got pregnant by just sleeping together. Literally just laying in bed next to eachother. If they slept too close they'd get pregnant. So I was scared to sleep with my sisters because we might sleep too close or something and I'd get pregnant.

When was younger, i belived that getting pregnant was not a choice, that one day you just woke up in the middle of the night with a big belly and yelled,"Oh no, my water broke!" and then your husband would rush you to the hospital. And if you were lucky enough to know you were pregnant in advance you could take a girl pill or a boy pill to determine the gender. And when I was very very young and had jsut found out about babies, my mom had told me that they came oput of your tummy.I remeber having this vision of someones big belly hatching open like a chicken egg and a feathery baby climbling out...i was a weird one.

I read a kids' sex education book that gave most of the facts, but neglected to mention that sex does not result in pregnancy every time. For years I thought you couldn't have sex without having a baby, until my mum told me otherwise.

My parents never told me that people had sex to have a baby, they just said it was when a man and a woman decided together that it was the right time.

So until I was 11 or so, I thought that a woman would only get pregnent when she decided in her mind that it was time. Sometimes I'd freak myself out by "thinking" I wanted a baby, and would then knock on wood 3 times.

When I was in second grade, I had a friend who knew about sex, because his mom had told him about it. However, he wouldn't tell me what it was because he had promised to his mom that he wouldn't tell. Instead, he just told me that a boy and a girl have to kiss naked. I couldn't figure out why kissing naked would have a different effect than kissing fully clothed, if no body contact was made besides the kissing.
